Picked up the key from the Archive centre . Spent about 30 minutes viewing the interior. Information provided inside the chapel. Noticeboards outside the chapel outlines how to get the key. Just a pity that the lighting wouldn't work so see the decoration in more...More

A very pretty chapel with a long and interesting history linked to a local recusant landowning family. Barely any fixtures or fittings but an altar and glass by Peter Paul Pugin as well as tiles (presumably) by Minton. The key is available from the Herefordshire...More

Rotherwas Chapel is a real hidden gem near hereford. You can view the interior as the key is available from the nearby Herefordshire Archive and Records centre on Fir Tree Lane, see English Heritage's website for times. The interior is really interesting with some great...More

An ancient monument, reasonably well signposted. Parking within a few yards. Most people who find this chapel think it is closed, as it is not advertised as to where to 'borrow' the key. Try the Murco garage on the main road - locally called the...More

Visited out of curiosity when in the area with half-an-hour to spare. From the brown signs, you might expect an ancient semi-ruin, but this is a family's private Catholic chapel (from when adherence to Rome was allowed but frowned upon in society) and relatively recent....More

Not much to see here. A catholic church in reformation England was a place of some secrecy. Pleasant exterior, you can walk around it, and you can squint inside through a couple of holes - I managed to take a photo through one - and...More

An unprepossessing approach (shared with the recycling centre and on the edge of an industrial estate) this 16th C chapel was built to serve the 'big house'. Georgian and Victorian additions, the latter by Pugin, add to interest. Locked when I went - I had...More

This is a lovely little chapel and you wouldn't think that it was on outskirts of a city. It is situated south of Hereford. There are no facilities at this chapel, parking is limited, but it is worth visiting even though it is about a...More
