Although this year it was a bit chilly ( after all the lovely sunshine ) I still enjoyed my visit to the kite festival on the common.
There were lots of stalls to look at and a good selection of food stalls. Unfortunately for me...More
Many different events happen here, this weekend was Cheese fest so something of interest to look at and eat. The common is vast so there's still plenty of space for peace and quiet and strolling along.
Southsea Common hasn't changed a great deal in all the years I have been going there. That's a good thing too! Such a pleasant green area to walk; it's by the seaside and there are plenty of nearby pubs and restaurants for when you get...More
Right on the sea front between the 2 piers, the common is an old established *Green* area, with some pathways, views across Spithead to the Isle of Wight. Cold and nothing to do in the Winter, but a good place for picnics and summer activities/shows/circuses etc.

Morning, take the train to Portsmouth Harbour and then you can walk to the sea front. There are plenty and cafes in Gunwarf (the big shopping area), it's right next to the station. If you want to see the kites or the bandstand you need to pass Gunwarf and the ferry terminal for Isle of Wight. Once you are on the sea front it's up too you how further you can walk. You can see the kites from everywhere. There are coffee shops on the Pier as well. Enjoy your time, I hope the weather will be good!
