We were actually in the Cotswolds during January...and this is not a bad time to visit. We didn't have to fight the crowds...and some mornings had the entire village nearly to ourselves....just strolling through this particularly beautiful village was a treat...the water is crystal clear.

Firstly, in regards to the town of bourton on water, this place is more like a min-disneyland with lots of paid attractions for young families. It is not really a place to wonder around. The info centre is a good launch pad to plan trips...More

We went for a day out, managed nice weather and not too many tourists. It was pleasant, but very touristy in character. I assume people still live there, but goodness only knows where they shop. The miniature village was interesting, other museums turned out not...More

Another place well worth visiting if in the area with a good selection of shops and places to eat. Very picturesque with plenty to see and do.

Very happy staff. Happy to please travellers and they sell duck food for the ducks on the Windrush. They open at 9.30 and close at 5pm and are always happy and smiley ...

We visited after touring four small villages which were fabulous, like stepping back in time. By comparison, Bourton is like a Disney creation of a Cotswolds village ... overly commercialized and jam packed with tourists. I won’t say which villages are fabulous because I don’t...More

Greeted with a lovely smile, welcoming comments and advice. All our questions were answered and we received good directions to visit the Cotswolds.

Perhaps we were spoiled by having spent the night at nearby Lower Slaughter, which oozed character. Maybe it was the many Sunday visitors. Maybe it was the plethora of "authentic" English tearooms and ubiquitous souvenir shops. Maybe it was the green plastic fencing lining parts...More

This is our second visit to Bourton in 9 months, fortunately we had first class accommodation. Bank holiday time is manic. Everywhere where there is somewhere to sit has someone sitting in it. The pubs and restaurants are always fully booked which is a suprise...More

Popped in here to see if there were any leaflets on guest houses, and was not disappointed. Will make a change in future from staying in hotels in & around Bourton which we love as a quaint village.
