Overview
More
Lewes Bonfire Night is the biggest 5th of November celebrations in the world – totally transforming the usually peaceful town of Lewes. There are more than 30 processions through the narrow streets, starting at around 5 p.m. and going all night. Each procession has their own traditions, costumes, bonfires, fireworks and fire displays. The friendly rivalry between the processions keeps the night interesting, as they spend the whole year preparing in advance.

This year was my first time attending Lewes' Bonfire Night, and I was dragged across the country by my boyfriend (Sussex born and raised) to see them. And I'm glad he did, because it's truly an incredible evening. The town becomes absolutely packed, and begins...More

I genuinely cannot express how amazing Lewes bonfire night is. The whole town is in celebration with numerous different firework displays, barrell rolling and parades. The atmosphere is amazing and perfect for families as well as groups looking for drinks and a good time. This...More

Thirty thousand or more spectators annually trek to the small Sussex town of Lewes, where Guy Fawkes' treasonous plot of 1605 and 17 Protestant martyrs in the mid 1500s are still commemorated by six Bonfire Societies. Massive processions follow separate routes through the town, which...More
