Wonderful open day run by volunteers. (Check their website for open days). The water wheel and steam engines are the main attraction but there were also vintage bicycles, motor bikes and a Hillman Minx car when we attended. They have a cafe with home made cakes.!...More

It is well worth keeping an eye out for the Centre's Open Days - they are not to be missed. We visited the Centre on one in September 2017. The waterwheel and its companion steam engine are most impressive. As one might expect, they are...More

We visited on an open day when the waterwheel engine was in steam and many other old engines had been brought. Steam engines, gas engines, fascinating.

I went the centre on an open day & was really impressed by the huge working original equipment, working models & mini steam engines. Although not a large place I managed to spend a good couple of hours there.

There's a giant Waterwheel, and a super steam engine to watch, and to learn the early history of distributing clean water around the town. Many of the old pipes are still in use, so they knew how to do things back then!
