Because this isn't National Trust or English Heritage owned, this house may not be on your radar. But well worth a visit. History going back to the 15th century and helpful staff. In the summer the gardens would be really good.

No one who visits Dorset should miss this glorious building with a history that goes back more than 500 years. This is a very special Tudor house and garden and your visit may take several hours if you do a little bit of everything. The gardens are laid out in several rooms - plenty of manicured herbaceous borders, wild planting, trees, herbs, flowers and also architectural features, ponds, topiary and vistas. The cafe is excellent - good food, service and attention to detail. I would say the whole visit is very well managed - from start to finish. Highly recommended for all garden, architecture and history lovers.…

The garden is unique as it is beautiful. Composed of high walled partitions. Each section is different. If you are visiting Dorchester then this must be a compulsary vist.Highly recommended.…

My group had only positive comments on the visit. The restaurant also got glowing reviews about the quality of the food and drink on offer. I will definitely be recommending this as a future destination on our other tours in the area. …
