Maiden Castle covers a very large area. There are signs placed around to give the history of the people who lived on the spot. It's high on a hill so there are excellent views. It's interesting to envision what took place here during the Iron...More

Just outside Dorchester, this large hill fort from the period of the Roman invasion offers a great insight to our history, as well as a rather beautiful walk with stunning views.

A lovely peaceful place to let the children run free in the fresh air. Learn historical facts and see the ancient roman temple remains.

It is so huge and old it is hard to grasp the greatness of it. I would guess it is a wounderful place to take an hour walk as well. Important to know, there are sheep in the area.

Superb views from the top of this unusual Iron Age fort with remains of a Roman temple burial ground. Neolithic meeting place and huge earthworks amazing given the tools available at the time

Good for a walk. We took our children ages 2, 5 and 9 we found the route through west entrance was the easiest as the room Nate back over the north defensive hills was precarious and we held the two youngest children very close. But...More
