I saw aerial views of Maiden Castle when I was a child and always found them intriguing. Not a castle in the traditional sense but a plateau surrounded by earthworks dating back to the Iron Age and beyond. It's a bit of a walk to...More

A lovely peaceful place to let the children run free in the fresh air. Learn historical facts and see the ancient roman temple remains.

It is so huge and old it is hard to grasp the greatness of it. I would guess it is a wounderful place to take an hour walk as well. Important to know, there are sheep in the area.

Superb views from the top of this unusual Iron Age fort with remains of a Roman temple burial ground. Neolithic meeting place and huge earthworks amazing given the tools available at the time

We went here on a recommendation from a friend. I would suggest doing this when everything else is closed so you can fit everything in. It was a peaceful place and would come here again. Free parking.
