Maiden Catle is an historic site which attracts people for learning and information purposes but is also an amazing place to have a walk and take in views of Dorchester and the surrounding areas.

We went here on a recommendation from a friend. I would suggest doing this when everything else is closed so you can fit everything in. It was a peaceful place and would come here again. Free parking.

A lovely place for a walk with the family, or on your own. The views stunning, the birdsong, enchanting.

Maiden Castle is a Hillfort just outside Dorchester. It is apparently the largest in the country. There is a small carpark which is FREE. Quite a steep climb up a path to take you to the main entrance. Stunning views from the top confirm why...More

Important historic site with good information signs. With over 3000 years of history with building of houses and defence systems, cooking fires and trying to keep their huts warm in the winter you understand that over the centuries all the woods disappeared and in the...More

There's no protection from the wind if it's blowing a hooley but if you take the effort to go up and wander around - using the info boards as references - then you can transport yourself back to an ancient time to a more simple...More
