- Carys SFleet, United Kingdom3 contributionsFamily zip wireFun experience for the whole family! The staff were amazing, super helpful and put everyone at ease! It did take a long time to harness up a large group in front of us so it took longer than an hour to get set up and do the zip line. Otherwise all great! XxxHello thanks for visiting RockReef on Bournemouth Pier. Apologies for the delay in the harnessing. - MdS_reviewIckenham, United Kingdom3 contributionsThrillingThis was well worth the trip to Bournemouth. Such an exhilarating experience flying over the waves. Much anxiousness beforehand, whilst getting kitted out and into the harness, and then climbing the spiral staircase, but so worth it. The team at either end were kind and helpful in putting us at ease for the short flight. One of my daughters had the wrist camera, so we have a great recording that was emailed to her, however, she was so focussed on getting good camera angles on the descent, that I felt she had probably missed out on the whole experience, so I sent her up again - further flights are discounted. Her special needs 23 year old sister also went twice and loved it!Thanks so much for visiting PierZip on Bournemouth Pier. - michael willis3 contributionsA great experienceI took my 10 Yr old grandaughter there for a birthday treat. We booked the Ultimate Experience. The staff were very helpful and professional. It was great to see my granddaughter, who was hesitant at first, gain in confidence as the session went on, progressing to the more challenging activitiesThanks so much for visiting RockReef on Bournemouth Pier! - Kirsty B3 contributionsSo much fun and amazing staffMy 8 year old absolutely loved the cave experience! He was a little scared at first but the staff are so lovely and in particular the young lady that was looking after that section, she was incredible. She saw that our son was struggling so she offered to go in with him, which was brilliant because that gave him the confidence to go in on his own. We can’t wait to go back and try the other activities. Thanks so much for visiting RockReef on Bournemouth Pier! We hope you had so much fun and hope to see you again soon. - Jen1 contributionA great afternoon out BUT...Our children (9 & 12) had a great time. They tried all the activities and particularly enjoyed the cave experience. They conquered fears and made a great team helping each other with challenges. It was memorable for them. My gripe was management of the slide!! We paid for the slide at 6pm. We were there in plenty of time and behind two very big families. Happy to wait our turn BUT each family had 4 kids having goes. Our parking ticket gave us till 6.25, we had to extend it! We were told 2 slides each. Several children had 3 goes each, sulking with the height they reached. Staff didn't control this but worse than that just as we thought we would get this slide done, one of the parents decides they want a go, sent their kid off to buy a ticket (it was only my children left by this stage before closing time, had waited easily 40 minutes at this point). We are stood there literally on hold till the adult gets a ticket, gets her suit/hat on and takes her go, dangling at the top telling the staff not to lower her!! Staff should have managed her and let our children have their go first, we already had our tickets and time slot. Our tickets were booked in the morning. The mother was extremely rude to have done this to 2 kids but staff should have controlled it because my husband had to contain my anger that was bubbling!!! If the staff had managed the slide rules and fair treatment, we wouldn't have needed to pay another £3.00 parking! Had already paid for parking all day! It really spoilt what was a lovely afternoon on the pier at Rockreef.Visited April 2023Travelled with familyWritten 14 April 2023

- jaffacakes_yumKenilworth, United Kingdom71 contributionsGreat time! What a great location and set up!! Easy to get to and really well organised and set up. Thorough briefing and a massive selection of walls for all abilities to choose from. My children spent a good hour trying all the walls out and loved it. Next time we will try out the hanging aerial course and the indoor cave system which also looked great. Excellent fun!!Thanks so much for visiting RockReef on Bournemouth Pier! - Fran M1 contributionGreat experienceReally well organised at a busy time. Our children were doing the high wire and an autistic child was struggling. A member of staff helped the child and stayed with him the whole course, she supported him verbally, boosting his confidence. She definitely went above and beyond, it was lovely to see. - XKezzerX3 contributionsGreat experience. Long wait. The experience in its self was great. However, your not allowed your phone so wasn’t able To take any pictures & the wait on the tower before actually doing the zip line was long. All staff were friendly, including the man & lady at the top of the tower. Thanks so much for visiting PierZip on Bournemouth Pier! We hope you had so much fun and hope to see you again soon. - Caroline S1 contributionClimb and zipKids X2 thoroughly enjoyed the clip and climb. Clear instructions given to the adult clippers. The session was 1.5hrs which was a little too long for just the clip and climb. We had a lunch break and then 4 of us went onto to do the pier zip. When booking I was going to select the tandem group of 4 but when I started to book the clip and climb it then allowed me to add the 4 people for the zip and was £10 cheaper. Good job as booking on the weekend is a lot more expensive. Prior to zipping you need to take off any watches or jewelery. No phones are allowed. The climb up the tower to the zip wire was up a spiral staircase with only one handrail. I slowed everyone up as I got a little dizzy ... can't stop looking where my feet go. When we had left my friend realized she hadn't got her Fitbit. A quick call and they looked for it but sadly it wasn't found. We're sorry to hear about the loss of your Fitbit. For health and safety reasons, we tend to ask there is nothing your pockets when doing the PierZip or any watches or jewellery. I hope you had a great experience once you zipped down to shore. We hope to see you again soon!Written 19 July 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited April 2023Travelled with familyWritten 3 May 2023

I booked a kids party, and whilst the experience was very much enjoyed by the kids and the staff were very friendly and helpful, unfortunately I found the communication to be abyssmal and value for money to be lacking.
I rang twice before the event to confirm the details and work out the allergy requirements for the group, and these changes had all been confirmed to me on email.
However, on arrival to Rock Reef, reception only had details of the original booking, so had to check with the kitchen that they actually had enough food to cater for the group.
The addition of 2 extra people also caused confusion, as the kitchen it seems, weren't made aware, which we only found out after the others had been served. So the additional 2 in our group had to sit and wait for their food while the others were eating. Even then, once their food arrived, we had to ask the kitchen to bring chips for them, as they hadn't bought any.
It was 20 mins from the start of our session until after the safety briefing because our party host arrived 5 minutes late.
The climbing walls were extremely busy, and seemed potentially over capacity for the first 15 mins of our session (once a child had finished on a wall, the only option was to queue for another one, as there were never any actually available). We didn't have the full hour on the climbing walls as stated in their T&C's, and our party food (the first lot) was served 15 mins ahead of schedule.
I paid £22 per head (£6 per head was for food), and each got 2 small pieces of pizza and there was one bowl of chips between 8. A couple of the kids were still hungry after just eating (ages 6 and 7), so all in all, I don't feel the food or the experience was great value for money and so won't be rushing to do it again

Today, our 7 year old son had a birthday party at Rock Reef. At the start, we and our guests were looked after by a lovely young blond lady. She explained everything what we need to do and what would be next. Our son and quests were very happy. We highly recommend this place.

Great place. We took eleven eleven year old girls and they were all very happily occupied for the whole hour and a half session. There were plenty of climbing options and barely any queues for anything. The staff were all very helpful and accommodating.
You might like to work out in advance if you want to do the add-on options like the big slide (as this can add a bit to the bill if you have a big group) but you can just add them on ad hoc if you run out of things to do.

Absolutely amazing. I took my two granddaughters 10 & 8 and they had a great time. The staff are wonderful, friendly, professional and available. I booked the Ultimate Adventure and it was worth every penny. I will certainly be taking the grandkids again, great experience and great fun.

Overcrowded and unorganised. Not enough staff to the amount of participants. We couldn’t hear the safety brief and therefore I did not feel comfortable clipping my child’s harness. Everything felt rushed

Thinking of taking my sons here who are 15 and 18, is this suitable please or are the activities too small for them? They are quite adept at climbing. Thank you!

Can a 7 and 10 year old do the pier cave without an adult?
My partner is 6ft 3 and we also have a baby and I am pregnant so we would both rather watch!
Bournemouth Pier
Bournemouth, UK
Hi, Pier Cave does not require an adult to accompany a child in the cave. However, children should be accompanied on the activity floor and if they want to do climbing they will need an adult clipper to clip them to the ropes. I hope that helps answer your question but please do give us a call if you have more questions.
