The Square is a pedestrian area between the Lower and Upper Gardens in the centre of the town. There is a cafe / restaurant - The Cafe Obscura, otherwise it is a meeting place for visitors and residents alike. A popular place with street entertainers.

I can't knock it, it's smack bang in the centre of everything. Near to the beach, oceanarium, land train, lower gardens with plenty of seats, central gardens, bus links, shops with eateries. What more do you need. 😁

Despite some recent reviews I found the town to be quite nice, yes it is tired in places but it has a lovely seafront and park and the shopping area was reasonably good.

There's no soul or character here. It's a blank space that's randomly filled with different stalls and naff attractions. The Cafe Obscura is best avoided. Hideously over-priced with very poor service. I think it sets the tone for the Square and is why the place...More

The Square is rather rundown now, the marble / stone floor is covered in cracks with chunks taken out of it, probably due to the skateboarders who are always rolling about in the evenings, it’s incredibly slippery when raining (I’ve almost gone over a couple...More

Seems like the shops Bournemouth Town Centre has become a campsite for the homeless, dont bring your family here whilst Bournemouth council go after easy targets like parking fines whilst ignoring rampant drug dealing and homelessness.

What a lovely area. We always get that Mediterranean feeling, but obviously not the weather....Britain!! Nevertheless, a lovely area, some smashing bars and restaurants, and Bournemouth in general is simply lovely.

After the pier head, this is probably the second most-visited part of Bournemouth. This year there seems to be a lot of things going on here - pop-up bar and garden, live entertainment, rustic market stalls and kiosks. Handy for cinema, Pavillion, BIC, restaurants, Wetherspoons...More

Yes, about 15-20 min by walk, but the city center is nice, so it is a good and enjoyable walk :)
