The seventh centary Charles Cross Church stands as a memorial to the German Blitz which reduced most of Plymouth City Centre to rubble in March 1941. The burnt out Church stands in The centre of one of Plymouths buisies roundabouts and although it can be...More

This lovely old church was bombed during World War II and has never been repaired. It is now situated in a small roundabout so you can walk or drive past it, but I don't think it is actually possible to visit it, just walk past...More

The bombed out Church is a very real and fitting tribute to those who lost their life in the war. Situated on the roundabout by the town centre it is a constant reminder and memorial to all.

I am delighted that this historic landmark is being restored currently and really like the fact that it’s where it is in the centre of a roundabout. Plymouth had a dreadful road network before the Second World War and this roofless Church is a reminder...More

Unfortunately you cannot get to the church itself which is situated on the roundabout. You can read a plaquette on the entrance to the metro.

A must visit sight if you appreciate history. The WW2 blitz destroyed the pre war Plymouth and this poignant memorial stands on a roundabout surrounded by unseeing traffic.

If you book a room at Jurus Inn hotel, then you can see this place from your hotel room. It is a nice place, full of history, that shows you thet a war can destroy its beauty.

A monument and poignant reminder of the wrath and destruction suffered by Plymouth and its civilian population. This church is situated and the sole occupant of a busy roundabout close to Plymouth University - just the bare walls are visible of this C17th church. There...More

Bombed church in central Plymouth near Drake Circus. Large landmark, now derelict but echoes of past glory remain. Architecturally impressive and still an imposing landmark and a sad reminder of war. Only downside is it's now in the middle of a very busy traffic junction....More
