This grand statue sits in the cathedral grounds and is often surrounded by picnickers. One of the few statues of this great man shows him sitting viewing the area.

Exeter is a great city. High street shops and designer shops, cathedral, quay, remains of a Norman Castle, an area where witches were hanged (sorry, women accused of being witches), a city wall plus more

Hands down the best Statue of Richard Hooker in Exeter if not the whole of Devon. I can't comment about outside of the shire.

Sat overlooking all things that go on at Cathedral Green is the Richard Hooker Statue. Fine piece of sculpture of this fine pillar of society. He sees all things and no doubt wonders about the modern era.

Hooker's emphasis on Scripture, reason, and tradition considerably influenced the development of Anglicanism, as well as many political philosophers, including John Locke. He is an underrated person these days but very important and this statue is a fitting memorial to him.

This statue has details of Richard Hooker and is set in the beautiful area of cathedral Green in Exeter . You can pause to read all about him whilst picnicking on the green or walking across the cobbles to nearby restaurants!

Located on the Cathedral green of Exeter Cathedral is this statue of Richard Hooker. He was born in Heavitree, Exeter in 1554 and became a priest and was known as an influential theologian.
