I don't criticise the need for a community to remember their war dead or reflect on the issues, sacrifice and emotions affecting those who fought and were left behind. This memorial was paid for by public donations and the accomplished sculptor was local, the materials...More

Located up near to Exeter Castle in Exeter City and is inside Northernhay gardens. The war memorial is a reminder for us to remember those who fought for us and will always be remembered.

This fine memorial is located in the very pretty Northernhay Gardens. It comprises some fine statues around the main monument which commemorate the thousands of Exeter men who died in the two World wars.

A visit to Exeter is not complete without a walk through the Northernhay Gardens. Check out the War memorial. Depicting four statues of those brave people who fell in the Second World War. (1939-1945) May they rest in peace and never be forgotten.

The War Memorial stands in Northernhay Gardens which is normally an oasis of calm, yet only a few minutes from the bustling city centre. The four statues on the memorial represent a soldier, sailor, nurse, and prisoner.
