It is normally a small fee to use the library, but they allowed us to have a look around for free. A nice of old books and some interesting newer ones.

This place is very interesting, informative, has books and files covering all of Penzance. Particularly the mines, which I'm interested in, being an engineer. You can find anything on the polldark mines, locations, what the mines actually produced and so much history of Cornish way...More

An absolute gem. Private subscription reference and lending library. Very well stocked with modern books/publications as well as magnificent historical collection. Quiet rooms, some with sea view, for study/reading/contemplating. Archive photo collection. See Humphrey Davy's very own chair! Lovely staff. It's like another genteel world....More

An eclectic collection, limited by space, with some wonderful original titles. Poor on science, good on art and literature. A lovely place to write.

We came across this library by chance when walking around the attractive Morrab Tropical Gardens. It is one of the few private libraries in existence in England, dating back to 1818, housed in a fine Victorian mansion, and containing thousands of books, old and new,...More

Stumbled upon this place as the main libray in Penzance had suffered storm damage and was closed. In fact I needed a computer to print a letter, what we found here was a splendid building housing a real library in charming surroundings. Unfortunately we couldn't...More

Trip Advisor seems to believe that the library is the only thing here, but there are beautiful, well-maintained public gardens stretching down toward the sea from the library. A peaceful oasis in the city of Penzance. A good place to wander or bring a book...More

The Morrab Library is an independent library tucked away in the subtropical Morrab Gardens. It has existed since 1818. Do not confuse this with the Public Library on Morrab Road. There are no computers here, or DVDs, just floor to ceiling books on dark wooden...More
