The buildings are lovely, however we didn't feel that this area stood out more than other Chester rows. There are perhaps more independant shops in this area, but not markedly so. If we hadn't known it was called the Independant Quarter we wouldn't have guessed...More
Not much of a shopper but I certainly enjoy the lovely architecture in the Watergate Street Independent Quarter.
Lots of boutique style shopping outlets, not so much your big name brands,lots of pubs,bars,cafes and restaurants and it's a busy and vibrant area.

Watergate Street is one of the best streets to walk down if your planning a trip Chester.

Just as attractive as the main shopping area of Chester with its quint buildings and cobbled street, this area benefits from having reasonable selection of independent and different types of shops. Certainly worth a slow wander.
