I'm sorry to say I was disappointed with this museum. I know it's a voluntary contribution to enter, but I found it boring... And I love museums.

Small, local museum. Free admission leaves your donation up to you. This tiny museum has some outstanding items. There is a legionaries 25 year completion certificate, which is very rare, along with some stellar grave markers.

On Thursday I visited the Museum with my cousin from London and she was mortified that the person on the reception was sat there drinking tea or it could have been coffee. She has been in lots of museum's in London and other cities and...More

The rooms with proper art in were fine but room 1 and the Russian room were both modern art and therefore complete rubbish. Kings Kitchen is no such thing - it's a classroom filled with kids coats. Someone got told off for trying to go...More

Visited here while my wife hit the shops of Chester! Spent an hour or so wandering around seein some very interesting Roman displays. There were some original Roman gravestones with translated inscriptions and some very interesting relics which had been found in the excavations.

The museum had a natural history section, silverware, portraits and a telling of the Roman roots of the city among its eclectic rooms. It is free.

Great place to see lots of old history here so when you just want to get away from the town for a hour this is good place to visit and free to enter so a rainy day or just escape from the town

This museum is local to me and my friend and I realised we hadn't visited for far too long. What a treat. There was a fabulous 10 minute film showing the history of Chester which was fascinating. There is a diverse selection in this relatively...More

This museum, established in 1886, has a collection of relics during the Roman times when England was under the Romans. These are interesting. But the other exhibits were not so interesting. It is free.

We made the mistake of going on Sunday afternoon, when they don't open until 1 & close at 4 - there was WAY too much to see in that short time, we could happily have spent several more hours there, as we only had time...More

Unfortunately none of the museum staff are producing eggs at this moment . Your pet tortoise will have to be kept chained up outside as we are worried he might try to chew dinosaur bones sorry
