The Museum of Zoology is currently closed for refurbishment. Our animals are not ready to greet you yet! We are working as hard as we can to get the museum finished, and plan to open in 2018. Once reopen the Museum will have new displays, a cafe, shop and an impressive new glass entrance hall housing our largest specimen, a skeleton of the 70ft long Finback Whale. Our newly refurbished galleries will show off our wonderful zoological collections, some of which were collected by Charles Darwin.

The whale in the entrance hall is great (both in terms of size and my feeling about it :) ) and you can have a cup of coffee/tea/lucnh right beneath it. The gift shop has lots of cool stuff as well.

Only a small part of the museum is currently open, but we called in on a wet afternoon and we were pleasantly surprised. We had a wonderful hour looking around and there were lots of people with young children who were clearly loving being there.

We spent around 10 minutes searching for the museum as it was wrongly located on google maps. We went back to the archeology museum to find simple directions. After reading some negative reviews we were quite surprised once we arrived. There was a vast variety...More

Closed for refurbishment for 3 years(!) - see their website for details. Until it closed, it was great with a huge variety of interesting exhibits.
