Overview
More
Cross the Silver Street bridge and stroll under the leafy canopy of Sidgwick Avenue to discover the Museum of Classical Archaeology. The collections range from enormous plaster casts of Greek and Roman sculpture to the smallest sherds of ancient pots. The casts are not mere copies, but are historical objects in their own right and many date to the eighteenth century. Traditionally, the casts formed a teaching collection but today the Museum welcomes school groups, families and many other visitors through its doors. All are welcome and admission is free. Check the website for information on tours and events.

This museum is rather out-of-the-way - I would never have discovered it without the internet, even though I've lived locally all my life. Having recently visited the Olympia Museum in Greece, I thought I would come here too. As another reviewer rightly says, one would...More

If you are interested in the classical period this is a must, you are literally falling over pieces of classical art. There is only one floor but plenty of exhibits.

We have previously visited most of the museums in Cambridge, so our visit here was partially driven by a desire to complete the set. The museum is very consistent with its website, and is highly focussed on a theme that is not of particular interest...More

This is a good museum. It is small only about the size of a large office. However it is packed with statues from Greek antiquity.

The museum is not that big but it's worth seeing for its plaster molds of the most famous statues of Ancient Greece. The atmosphere is nice and staff is helpful too, if you need explanations or any info. Free entrance.
