I walked from Blagdon through the hills to Cheddar on a Saturday morning in October. Although the weather was bad, the walk is still enjoyable.

Charterhouse is an amazing place, at one time it was a thriving industrial centre using minerals mined on the spot, ever since Roman times up to 17C but has since reverted to nature. The whole area is great for walkers.

Great walk along Crooks Peak Ridge today - nice views, with a dramatic skyline over the Severn estuary. The Mendips offer a wide range of interesting walks and nice places to visit. Crooks peak is one of the Somerset 360s

As Bristolians, my partner and I visit Cheddar several time a year. Yesterday, sadly it was looking very scruffy. Cox's Mill Hotel is a central eye-sore with its broken or boarded up windows and the emergence of recent "Emporiums" around it is terrible. The emporiums...More

Train from Bristol temple meads to Weston-super-mare, then get the 126 bus to cheddar. Takes around 1 hour 30, but isn't too expensive
