Overview
More
Woburn Abbey has been the home of the Earls and Dukes of Bedford for nearly 400 years and is now home to the 15th Duke and his family. Alongside the world class collection of art, the house contains the fascinating stories of the people who have shaped the history of both the Abbey and the nation; including the ‘creation ‘ of Afternoon Tea. The Gardens, with a twenty year restoration programme, are of equal splendour with 28 acres of Repton designs to be explored and discovered.Throughout the year Woburn also hosts a series of events including: The Woburn Abbey Garden Show, summer theatre, guided walks tours and study days.

Generally this is an interesting place to visit as we have done on several occasions. However, new black-out blinds have been fitted to all the house windows so all the rooms are now quite dark and it is very difficult to read writing on information...More

A number of splendid paintings, especially the Canalettos in the private dining room. But we were surprised that, in general, there was little to indicate who the individual artists were - their names difficult to read at the bottom of the gilt frames. Bit disappointed...More

Thank you for getting oin touch wtih your comments. Woburn Abbey is unusual in that the majority of the paintings in the collection have descriptive labels applied to the frames. These are historic labels which have become part of the object, unlike a museum label...More
