What people are saying
Shannon, unethical, rude, and dishonest employee!
1.0 of 5 bubblesMay 2019
Shannon, an employee at Cineplex Cinemas Metropolis had disappointed me with her unethical, rude, and dishonest behavior on Saturday May 18th 2019. My friend and I left 2 unopened Yifang fruit teas outside of the theater near where they check your tickets because they don't allow outside food (100% reasonable). I was informed by Shannon that they are not responsible for the drinks if lost, so I was mentally prepared that our drinks will likely be gone by the time the movie ends. After we went into the theater, I put my bag down and went out to use washroom, and I saw this Shannon holding my drinks walking towards their break room. I went up to Shannon and asked: "why are you holding my drinks?" and she said "I am doing you a favor, I am gonna put it in the fridge for you." I knew what exactly was going on, but I decided to trust her. I confirmed with her that I could pick it up from their fridge and it'll be there after my movie, and she told me "yes". After I finished my movie, I walked to their break room and asked another employee for my drinks because Shannon wasn't there. The girl immediately said: "it's not here, we don't have it" without even checking. So, I knew then, Shannon did it anyways, even after I caught her. Real disappointment in such a young girl. Yes, it's only two drinks, no money value, but it's really the principle that matters. I don't expect you to be the good person who will watch after my stuff, but please don't be the one who takes it.

Don't go to the movies often. Find this place a bit of "factory" given the sheer size. Pretty at the concession. Comfortable seats, but not as comfortable as some others.
On the positive side, easy to get to, clean restrooms.

Great place - in the Metropolis Mall @ Metrotown, this Cineplex has 10 screens, so there is bound to be something on that you want to see.

Biggest downer is the seating, although they recline, there is very little leg room, so much so that there is an 'advert; before the film telling you "Don't be a Suzi Seatkicker". Well that didn't work as a child repeatedly kicked our seats. Please refurb these seats to give more legroom!

Aside from that, everything is great - usual selection of popcorn / ice cream snacks etc outside, and of course the mall food court if you want to pig out before the movie.

You can earn points with a 'SCENE' card (and credit card!) and there are interactive games ('TimePlay') to play in amongst the trailers, which is a nice Cineplex touch, allowing you to test your knowledge against people in the same audience - great fun!

Located inside the Metropolis Mall @ Metrotown, this cinema is a high traffic area. If you’re familiar with the Cineplex brand (and you should be), then the offerings here should come as no surprise. The site features 10 screens (D-Box, 2 UltraAVX, 7 3D), 1 party room and the standard eatery options that’ve become synonymous with this brand: Outtakes, Yoyo’s and Starbucks. In short, it’s a pretty standard Cineplex.

Because it is located in a large and very popular mall, this place can and does get crowded – hectic, even. But I don’t fault them for that; after all, if nothing else, they at least know their audience: Kids and teenagers. The masterminds at Cineplex target this group at the Metropolis location in a two-fold way. First, there is a modest arcade and games area at this location, which is sure to please those with little ones. Second, this movie house focuses its attention on the big Hollywood hits, i.e.: those types more likely to attract teenagers and such. And, hey, it’s good business. I mean, after you’re done shopping – or before you start – why not check out a movie? It’s a great marketing tactic and strategy.

All of that said, this is a nice cinema. Despite the frenzy of traffic that often converges upon this place, the staff seem to handle it well, and they do their best to keep the cinema and its auditoriums clean. I’m only giving this location 3 stars, however, because when it does get crowded it often feels like you have to navigate an obstacle course, and I don’t like that. Also, the movie selection is, in my mind, usually pretty unremarkable. It’s a shame Station Square (Famous Players) closed its doors back in 2012 because, while small, that cinema packed a punch and served as a nice alternative to their larger Metropolis counterpart.

We went to silver city to celebrate 12 year old birthday, boys night out. Disappointment when X-men pinball machine took 5 instead of three tokens. Then the double player game only accepted the coins from one side, the other side took all the coins without a game. My son spoke to a staff person & showed her ones with problems. Customer service line was too long. Shame such a fine evening ended with this experience for the birthday boy.

I had been wanting to come to this location for a while just because I like to experience new movie theaters. I'm used to the Scotiabank Theatre location in downtown Vancouver and this has all the feels of it but less chaotic. I would definitely come back to this location if I feel like seeing a movie... which usually hits when I'm out shopping and since the mall is just a floor below... it's bound to happen.

Definitely come here if you're looking for all that's offered at Scotiabank Theatre but don't want to deal with the hassle of trying to find parking downtown.

Haven't been here for a while - surprised how much it's aged! Staff still friendly and efficient, place still very clean, but.......je ne sais quois. Something missing. When compared to the Landmark, a few minutes away by Skytrain, with bigger more comfortable seats, less commercialism in the lobby, and similar prices, wonder why one wouldn't try it, if only for comparison purposes.

We were shopping in the mall and got bored so decided to see a movie. We are from Australia so not sure if all cinemas are as good we thought this one was, ours are pretty basic unless you pay for 'Gold Class' which is pretty expensive.
This experience was all new to us. We lined up to pay, the girl showed us a computerised screen and we chose where we wanted to sit and only paid $31 for 2 tickets.
The seats were the best I have ever sat in. They were padded and actually reclined (again not sure if this is the norm in BC)
Surround sound just great.
Thinking of going again. BTW saw Atomic Blonde with Charlize Theron an action spy movie, loved it.

Family went to see the new non cartoon version of Beauty and the Beast. The movie was really good and so were our seats. We lined up early so we would get good seats. Movie released a few days ago so very busy and long line up for ticket holders. Although an older theatre, seats are still comfy.
