Always an amazing trek up to experience these views, we brought 2 8-year-olds and a fouryear old, they were such troopers,
Start them young and let them live a healthy adventurous life by leading them by example
It is 660 meters uphill. It is definitely tough and steep. No toilets. But definitely worth it. The view is stunning. It is also very rewarding to climb so high. You feel like a hero after that :). Be well dressed, good shoes, water and...More
Starting at the Stawamus Chief trailhead, park in the upper lot to the right at the round about of you can: It is a quick start to the stairmaster climb. Serious stair master workout for the first 30 minutes. We opted to go to peak...More
We saw people hiking with small dogs and small children. I would not recommend that. The trail was crowded but people fairly respectful in letting each other pass. Must be able to climb ladders and use a rope (chain) to get up the rock.
Loved this walk. Nice September day, decided to do peak 2 as it looked like a loop walk.... yes it was very steep as other reviews mention, but took it easy and it wasn't a problem. However what I seem to have missed somewhere along...More

If you are looking for adventure and a grueling stair climbing hike, this is for you!
The stairs will put many a casual hiker off this route. It's not a walk in the park but an active hike. Please come prepared with food, water, a...More

This was my first time doing the chief but I now know that you have to do the hike in order to take in the view. There is no view from the parking lot area. Pack a lunch and hydration and plan to spend a couple hours to hike up , enjoy the view and hike down. Definitely you should be in decent shape as you hiking up a steep cliff!
