We weren’t sure what to expect when booking but having seen various advertising including actors and animals parading through Interlaken during our week stay there, we decided to give this a go. 4 adults and 2 x 20-year olds, not much German spoken between us but the free multi-lingual commentary we accessed on our phones was just enough to understand the scenes and the flow of the story. With that in place we were all really drawn into this lovely performance. The acting and staging was more than good enough to follow even in another language and the setting is truly perfect. All seats are undercover with perfect view of the stage and the projection of the entire cast carried very well from what is a very large ‘stage’. You need to experience it to understand, we go to the theatre very often and it was honestly a unique and beautiful event. I don’t want to spoil the finale but you will leave feeling happy, very welcome, appreciated and simply smiling. If you’re in the area and you get the opportunity just try it, don’t go with any specific expectations and you won’t regret it.

The open-air theater is definitely a special event. The performance was very good and even the rain did not disturb the numerous lay players. As a spectator you are fortunately sitting in the dry. The guided tour behind the scenes is also very interesting and recommendable.

This event can only be described as an extravaganza. The stage is huge and there are a huge number of actors and animals involved.

Unfortunately for us, there was a large amount of dialogue and our German was not good enough to really understand this dialogue. Therefore, despite knowing the story of William Tell, we felt that we missed out on a lot of detail about what was going on.

The seating is all under cover. The parking is limited and costs 5 sFr for the evening so get there early for parking.

There is food available and there is a little market selling locally made handcrafts.

So, all in all, a great experience if you understand German.
