A beautiful golf course set in fantastic surroundings. Unfortunately the management of play let it down. Firstly, our tee time was moved back 30 minutes to accommodate a large party, who then proceeded to hold the whole course up. There was no sign of a Marshall despite the starter telling us that every group was monitored by GPS. Five hours in 36 degree heat is not made for a rewarding or enjoyable round. The group behind us went in after 12 holes. We played seven courses during our stay in Cape Town. This course was definitely one of the prettiest, but the most poorly marshalled.

Horrible conditions! Fairways with dozens of GUR and gras that doesn’t belong there. Weed? All par 3 tee boxes under construction, it was like standing on a field. Greens loaded with sand, one couldn’t read the putting line. Conclusion: the round wasn’t worth the very high price we paid. For the next few month the course may generously bypassed in favour of another nice one nearby.

This is by far the best golf course in Cape Town. This championship, 18-hole layout is a rare layout within the vineyards of Steenberg Wine Farm. Only 25 minutes from the centre of Cape Town you will be amazed by its beauty. If you planning a golf holiday in South Africa make sure you visit Cape Town and Steenberg Golf Club

Steenberg Golf Course is open again.. and the greens and fairways are looking better than ever. Just love the winters in the Cape at this time of year. Clear air and wonderful blue skies.. truly champagne weather. Looking forward to getting back on the course

I celebrated a friend's 50th with a round of golf in September followed by drinks in the clubhouse. We had a fabulous round on your beautiful course. The greens were in great condition. We experienced exceptional service from Director of golf, caddies and clubhouse alike. A wonderful day out. Can't wait to return.

The club sells itself as one of the highest rated golf clubs in RSA and charges one of the highest green fees in the country. You can imagine the disappointment of our group when playing it, we found it to be in dire condition. The practice green is reasonable and green, the actual greens are largely bereft of grass and consist largely of hard baked earth. Large tracks of the fairways and rough are either marked as GUR or are totally bare. We’re told that about a year ago the greens were closed for some weeks and “winter” greens were in operation; they should have kept them closed. It’s no exaggeration to say that the whole course should be shut down for a period of time and worked on until it reaches a minimum playing standard. It begs the question how the management allowed it happen as I suspect it didn’t happen overnight.

The pro shop is over crammed with golfing merchandise with long queues at the paying desk. Service very indifferent and not particularly friendly.

Most of the practise mats had no tees and the ball washers were dry.

One leaves with the impression that they think they are something special. The truth is that this is a very, very ordinary golf club, badly managed but charging an extortionate fee. We’ll be asking our booking agent for a refund.

We brought some very influential clients to what I rate as the best golf course in Cape Town. I was given golf carts that lasted only 2 holes and my clients had to walk the rest of the course. Although I was refunded, I feel no effect was made to assist my clients.

Green fee R1135 which is the most expensive in Cape Town. The course is good if not spectacular and totally overpriced. I find the staff in the main arrogant.
As golfers who play at least 3 times a week during an annual 10/12 wks annually we play all courses but this is the course that we play least due to lack of value for money.
Played ther las March.
Called to play last week but was told by another swallow who had just finished his round that the greens were dreadful and covered in sand so we detoured to Westlake instead.
