    Book this trip!
Grathum (spelling?) took us on a half day tour of Soweto that was amazing! We learn SO much- truly a wealth of knowledge. He made it fun and quite interesting. He was a fountain of information about the history of South Africa from the Boer Wars through Apartheid. He brought Nelson Mandela, Desmond Tutu, June 16th and Hector Peterson to life for us. Thank you, The Shelby’s

    Excellent tours and guide
Wilderness Adventures booked us a tour of Johannesberg with Kwathlano. Our guide, Gratham, was excellent. He was very knowledgable about the city, and the countries history. He was open, thoughtful, and shared his families experiences to make the history more understandable. Glad to recommend the company and our guide. The Edells, NYC

Kwathlano | Superior Tour Guides, Timely AP Transfers, Professional Drivers!
Kwathlano was the transfer and tour provider selected by The Real South Africa, the exceptional travel and tourism company through which I booked my Johannesburg, South Africa trip. I see why RSA partners with Kwathlano. The tour guides are truly knowledgeable about SA history, and incredibly open to questions. I had the privilege of touring with Herbert for a trip to Pilanesberg National Park for a safari, and Gratham for two tours: Constitution Hill and Soweto, respectively. In all cases, Herbert and Gratham shared a wealth of knowledge about the country's tribes, multiple cultures, languages, and politics. They took care of every detail, such as admission, and had lunch with me as a meal was also included in the planned tour. The Kwathlano cars and vans were branded with the company logo and immaculate. I also want to acknowledge the drivers who always arrived early to pick me up for other scheduled activities that did not require a tour guide. All drivers are uniformed, very professional and took care to make sure I connected with the appropriate venue. The drivers also waited in all cases until the events scheduled by The Real South Africa ended. In conclusion, whether you are traveling solo, with family, or a group of friends, you will not find a more professional, timely, safe, and engaging team to manage your airport transfers, tours, and driving services than Kwathlano! If you are lucky enough to have Herbert and Gratham to lead your tours, you will indeed get authentic insight to the beautiful country of South Africa!

    Soweto tour and Apartheid Museum
We had the pleasure of spending the day with Gratham, visiting the Apartheid Museum, Nelson Mandela’s homes and (a small sliver of) Soweto. He was a wonderful historian with a clear passion for the subject. His telling went far beyond simply telling Mr Mandela’s story and included many other key figures in the movement, personal experiences regarding the history and present day South Africa. Gratham has a wonderful way of presenting the story frankly and honestly, even offering understanding for some who have come down on the wrong side of history. I wish that there could have been a few more hours in this day.

    Tour guide was Amazing!!!!!
This was our first trip to South Africa and because of our amazing tour guide, ~Gratham Prinsloo, it won’t be our last. We had several tour guides but he stood above and beyond the rest! We will definitely use the company again because of Grantham. He was punctual, courteous, kind, thoughtful, knowledgeable and treated us like his professional cousins! We felt at home with Gratham! He took us to some amazing spots, pointed locations out while driving to destinations, suggested food spots and refreshments and really seemed interested in making our 2 weeks the best ever! We could have had Gratham as our personal driver and tour guide the entire vacation, if we had the choice to choose him! He walked us to each location and came back to the destination to pick us up, helped us understand Rand to US, set it up for us to take amazing pictures and when I caught an anxiety attack, he was very thoughtful and concerned which was not part of his job! He also made sure we understood, saw and felt the very essence of South Africa! I think Kwathano Tours are so lucky to have him and if you are smart enough to book through this company, hopefully you will get a chance to experience Awesome Grantham and all his knowledge!

I chose the Soweto tour because it features the Mandela House Museum. My guide, Gratham, brought so much more to the tour. He had a clear and coherent way with story telling, which made history easy to relate to. He used Mr. Mandela's personal story to weave together Soweto's ups and downs in fighting apartheid. In addition to talking about a site of interest in vivid details, he provided the big picture and explained how this particular site fits into it. Gratham's passion about South African history and culture was obvious and his willingness to share and listen made the touring experience even more memorable.

We had booked a number of private tours with Kwathlano while in Johannesburg, (Diamond mine, Soweto, Cradle of Humankind, Pretoria, Apartheid museum, etc.) and I cannot say enough about the service provided. We had Gratham as our guide and driver for all of our 4 days worth of excursions and his knowledge and wonderful personality made each and every day enjoyable. He took the time to walk us through all of the different museums and attractions explaining all of the different items, ensuring that we got the most out of our visits. The pace was perfect and the attention to detail was outstanding and ensured that our time in Johannesburg was memorable.

Kwathlano not only transferred us to and from the Cape Town airport we also took two tours with them. We can’t say enough about the dependability of the drives to and from the airports. They were always early to pick us up and made sure we were on time, which took away from the travel stress.
We took a tour to the Cape Peninsula and Hemanus. Our guide was Klaus and he was excellent. We missed our visit to Table Mountain the day before due to wind. He made time for us to be able to visit without missing out on anything that day. On our ride to Hermanus he stopped at several special places, which added to all our fantastic memories!

We were picked up by Paul from the Portswood Hotel for a group day tour on Tue 18th April to Cape Point and the Peninsula.

Traveling around the city while doing other pickups we experienced some very erratic driving - sharp acceleration, vigorous braking and serving in and out of traffic and around corners.

This foolish driving caused my wife to experience a severe anxiety attack bringing her to tears due to the trauma requiring us to leave the vehicle at one of the pick up hotels and make our own way back to our hotel.

The driver appeared quite agitated saying we were running late and some advertised visits will not be achievable. He also wanted to book the whole group into one restuarant so we could gulp down our lunch and get going again - clearly the driving experience was going to get worse.

I lodged a verbal complaint via phone with the company shortly afterwards and the lady who took the call handled it very well inclusive of requesting my phone number for a manager to call me back.

No call back was received and this tourist from Australia did not achieve a lifetime ambition to visit the Cape of Good Hope!

By contrast, Llios Travel has provided four transfers via bookings through our travel agent in Australia and on every occasion the service and skill was exceptional.

I might mention that both my wife and I are Safety Consultants in Australia with our own business which had 227 clients in it's portfolio and would not like this fellow to be employed by any of them.

I use Kwathlano a lot but recently they have constantly been late even for airport transfers. I was looking forward to a relaxing weekend in Cape Town which started off terribly with Kwathlano being 15 mins late as the driver had to fill up. I wasn’t even informed they were running late. This is the second time in a month I have booked the service and they have failed to turn up on time.
