If you're after a truly unforgettable experience riding through stunning scenery and in great company this is a must do trip.
I convinced my wife to join me on this tour as part of our 2 week holiday to Cape Town and surrounding areas. Having never been pillion off road before, at the outset she was more than a little apprehensive, but by the end of the first day she was literally blown away by the whole experience. Gavin rode at speeds suitable for us and on the occasion that the route became more challenging (or she, or I fancied a change of pace) she hopped in the back up truck and kept Renn company.
Well organised, with superb accommodation, food and drink, I recommend anyone who likes getting off the beaten track (from new to off-road, to experienced) to include an Africa Twin tour as part of their itinerary.
Gavin even gave us some great tips on where to stay for the rest of our holiday.
We are already planning the next one. Thanks again Gavin (And Renn).

It doesn't get much better than riding Africa Twins in Africa!
All the bikes were well prepared (and on new tyres), ready to go with a bag on the rear rack to put a few things for the day and camera, all the other luggage was in the support vehicle.
Our trip took us from Cape Town up into Uis in Namibia and back again, 10 days of well planned routes, beautiful scenery (Canyons, desert, dunes and rolling hills and plenty of wildlife too!), great hotels and locations, with a rest day at the idyllic Ai Aiba. The hotels were all fantastic, all carefully selected for their quality, it is so difficult to pick a favourite but its between Moon Mountain Lodge or Canyon Lodge.
The whole trip was fantastically organized (I even received a PDF booklet detailing the each day, the route, the distance and hotel) and planned based upon our riding ability, where we wanted to go and how far we wanted to ride each day.
Real adventure is becoming harder to find, I cannot recommend Gavin enough to help you find that adventure, with great attention to detail, no corners cut and all needs met, I look forward to my next trip.
Just remember to check your passport before you travel ;-)

Recently myself and two friends travelled to Capetown, South Africa for a week long motorbike safari. We had chosen Gavin Dahms of Africa Twin Adventures to go with. Our choice could not have been better and we had a trip of a lifetime.
Everything about the package Gavin offers is superb from the quality of the bikes and equipment to the attention to every detail of route planning and outstanding quality of accommodation.
All the above greatly exceeded our expectations but it was the easy reassurance, driving tips and local knowledge plus great company in the evenings that both Gavin and support driver Rinn provided that made it such a memorable trip.
We all would recommend it very highly.

South Africa, motorbikes, what could go wrong! This was the question at the forefront of our minds. I love riding my motorbike and my wife as pillion, I think she does too but only if it’s not a white-knuckle ride.
Early in 2023, we came across an article about an adventure a couple had experienced on motorbikes in South Africa. It captured our imaginations, we were sold. Of course, we had lots of questions; where would we go, where would we stay, where can we hire bikes and was it safe?
We made contact with Gavin from Africa Twin Adventures who offered us a 9 day trip, bikes and accommodation all arranged. Now I’m not going to detail the adventure we had as that would just spoil it for others. What I can say is you go with an open mind and be prepared to be wowed; this is more than just a motorbike trip. The country, the people, the food; the company and yes of course the biking is a sensory overload and just pure joy. With Gavin, the owner and lead of Africa Twin Adventure Tours along with his back up team Renn; he you are in safe hands. Whether you are an experienced enduro rider or simply like touring, Africa Twin Adventures adapts the pace for you and tailor make a trip for you.
All we can say is, this was a fantastic experience, one we will never forget. We fell in love with South Africa and made some very good friends.

If you’re looking for exhilarating roads, fabulous landscapes and some luxury, then Africa Twin Adventures are the hosts for you!
Gavin lead the tour impeccably, adapting the day’s route to ability and preferences, adjusting for the odd unforeseen road closure. His depth of local knowledge was very reassuring, both in the choice of roads and imbuing a sense of personal security.
Luxury accommodation set in beautiful surrounds made for an outstanding experience at the end of every day’s ride. Never has a jump in the pool felt better than after a day in the South African sun, before heading off for another enjoyable evening meal.
I thoroughly enjoyed my trip and time with Gavin and Renn, his support driver. It left me with a strong desire to return for the amazing roads and to experience more of this beautiful country.

This was my 2nd time to do this trip with African Twin Adventures, Gavin and Renn were the perfect hosts , we did 5 days of spectacular riding around the garden route in the Western Cape , The road conditions were perfect for motorbikes, the scenery was amazing and the not paved road riding was great fun.Gavin organised all food and accommodation which was first class . The trip to the game reserve was the highlight. I couldn’t recommend these guys highly enough we had great fun and lots of laughter throughout the tour

If you are looking for an amazing riding adventure with breathtaking scenery then book this trip!
Our trip was a mixture of roads and gravel tacks through stunning countryside. My wife, never having been off road before, rode pillion and loved every moment although there was the option to ride in the back up truck she never took it!
There are no adequate words to convey how much we both enjoyed every moment of this truly mind blowing trip, the environment, the riding and the company with Gavin and his Wing Man Renn, it was absolutely brilliant.
The Africa Twins are easy bikes to manage and they are meticulously maintained and the accommodation, food and wine was way beyond my expectations.
This was our first trip to South Africa, it was beautiful, safe and everyone we met had an amazing positive energy and enthusiasm for life.
We will definitely book another trip with Gavin.

I travelled solo, from the UK for a guided motorcycle tour with Gavin and Rinn. I was a little nervous doing this alone, on a bike I’d never ridden, however I’ve had an exceptional week.
Gavin and Rinn are friendly, knowledgeable and really good fun! Every days route was tweaked to my interests, and the guys couldn’t have done more to ensure I had a great time. It felt like riding with old friends. Every evening was full of laughter, the accommodation and food was absolutely fantastic, and the service was second to none.
If you’re considering visiting SA on a motorcycle, do not pass up the opportunity to ride with these two!
Gavin and Rinn are friendly, knowledgeable and really good fun! Every days route was tweaked to my interests, and the guys couldn’t have done more to ensure I had a great time. We had an absolutely fantastic five day tour through the Cederberg and Karoo with Africa Twin Adventures.
The bikes were top-notch, in first rate condition with brand new tyres fitted perfectly suited to the terrain. The Africa Twin is a fantastic bike for this kind of trip.
Gavin the tour lead was happy to spend time with me before we left getting my GoPro camera and phone sat-nav set-up properly, and made sure that the suspension and seat position was optimum for the trip that I was doing two-up with my wife on pillion.
The route and accommodation were both fantastic. I've done quite a few motorcycle tours and this was by far the best - especially if you are looking for a bit of luxury after a hard day in the saddle.
Gavin gave great advice to help me improve my riding technique on gravel roads and sand and having the option of riding in the support vehicle for my wife when things got a bit too sketchy was great.
We visited some fantastic sights and stops in the Cederberg and Karoo - Africa Twin Adventures' knowledge and experience of the region is clear, and the team are fantastic.
Hopefully we'll get back for a longer trip soon. Highly recommended :-)
