I loved my visit here! The horses are clearly so well looked after, and the staff all seemed to love what they do! I liked the bric and brac and book sale areas dotted around. It's so nice that these poor animals who have had...More

The hillside horse sanctuary is a fantastic charity to visit enabling people to see a variety of shire horses. How people can be so cruel to animals is beyond me but these lovely people rescue and keep these magnificent animals. It is not expensive to...More

The Animals would not be here but for feckless, inadequate people neglecting and abandoning them like used tissues. Give generously, Please.

We visited the sanctuary on a wet and windy day, but there was plenty to see indoors as well as outside. The whole site is very well kept, with a variety of animals as well as the beautiful shires. Lots of staff attending to the...More

The people running this sanctuary should be very proud of themselves! I have never seen such happy and contented animals 😁 This was our first visit and definitely not our last-we loved every minute. I would recommend everyone who likes animals to pop along

I absolutely loved this place - the kids even more. What makes it so amazing is that its all supported by donations and they clearly do a lot of work helping and rescuing animals. Both my girls (12 and 9) loved Hillside and wanted to...More

Came across Hillside by chance and decided to take a look. As previously commented it’s so much more than a Shire Horse Sanctuary, Animals and birds of all shapes and sizes are loveling cared for by the staff. The facilities available are more than adequate,...More

Hillside is billed as a 'Shire Horse Sanctuary' but its so much more. Leaflets encourage people to think about their lifestyle. The cafe is "animal friendly" - no animals were harmed in making your lunch! There are barns with well laid out museum exhibits -...More

Good place to visit. My only complaint was that for the cost there wasn't a lot to look around. There's a place just like it in Tenterden, Kent which is around four times bigger and admission is free.
