Truly a beautiful beach. Located right next to the Decameron Mompiche resort where we stayed. With a free water taxi from the resort, we visited twice during our stay. The water was warm and the sand was soft. Kids and family had a blast. Only...More

Nature and you, no one else. I was impressed by the rests of buildings that were destroyed by the earthquake in 2016. Wonderful ocean, high palms, a very quiet place for walking along the beach and enjoying the nature.

A $3 mototaxi ride from Mompiche then 50 cents to cross the river in a boat. A looong walk on the wide beach from the Royal Decameron Resort Beach Club past red crabs and marked turtle egg laying sites. Fresh fish ceviche and a cold...More

The Isla Portete is a beautiful beach, but it has been impacted by development of a large resort to the north. It used to be quiet and not that populated, now lot's of activity. Can be escaped by walking south away from the resort.

We spent the afternoon in a boat with Boris, and traveled all through the mangroves. We visited the Interpretation center at Bolivar and looked at some of the pre-colombian artifacts found on the local beach. This tour rocks... And Boris is a great guide.

This place seems like a paradise compared to the Mompiche beach. Big and pretty quiet beach. Taxi from Mompiche is 1,5usd/person and boat to the island 0,5usd. Really pleasant experience.

This town is perfect if your looking for a rustic quiet coastal town. Some hotels have hot water and some don't so be sure to ask. The ones on the beach have awesome views overlooking the ocean. We did spot a dolphin in the cove...More

Extensive coconut fringed beach. Once away from influence of the big lodge (DECAMERON) few people. Surfing can be good and a long walk will bring you to Bolivar, a quaint town, jumping off point to Isla Jupiter.
