Interresting Stone
Sep 2020
Stopped while driving to the Sir Walter Tyrrell pub nearby. Found it very interesting as we've always seen the signs from the A31 and wondered what it was

Nice spot for a picnic
Aug 2020
Apparently this is the spot William Rufus got shot with an arrow. Lots of parking and pretty surroundings. Good place to stretch your legs and have a picnic.

Historical New Forest Site
Jul 2020 • Friends
I had not visited this historic site for many years. However at the end of a hot day we stopped here for a picnic and to take in the last few hours of sunshine. I photographed the place where King William the second (nicknamed Rufus) was shot accidentally by Sir Walter Tyrrell. Lovely part of the New Forest.

Winter dog walk
Jan 2020
Lovely area for dog walking. Super views. Lots of friendly dogs for mine to play with. Parking was a bit of an issue and by the afternoon the parking areas were very congested which made leaving a little tricky.

lovely setting and a historical statement. Many may be underwhelmed by it but having been there so many times on school trips has given me a fondness towards it.

A pretty major landmark in history is just here on the edge of the forest, a 2 minute drive from the busy m27 and a gorgeous area of the new forest. If you are passing, it’s a good place to stop off for a walk in a beautiful area of the forest, the memorial is pretty small, but worthwhile to stop to see where a big part of the history of England took place.

An historic landmark with fantastic wals all nearby , worth a visit

Brilliant to see such an historic location marked and worth visiting to see the Rufus stone then have a lovely walk in the nearby woods .There is great countryside all nearby and parking was ample and easy when we visited. If hungry or thirsty, the sir Walter Tyrrell is 5 minutes walk away which supplies lovely ales and food .
