Very interesting of the rock and colonization. Beautiful view of the city. But pricey to visit but totally can be done solo.

Amazing view
Dec 2020 • Couples
After we red the comments about safety and dangerousity of this place, we weren't sur if it was a good idea to visite. We asked at our hotel's reception who said that now it's safe. The rock and the view on the city are beautiful. It's safe because there is a security guard so there is a fee now.

Perfect Sunset Rock
Nov 2020
Very cool place to watch a sunset, it is fun to sneak up the rock stairs, to get to the top. For sunsetters, May want to carry a flashlight, those same steps are tricky after dark.

Great views of Iringa
Dec 2019 • Friends
This is worth a short walk to climb this Rock. It doesn’t look much from far away, but you get great views of Iringa from the Top. There is a guard on duty, as well as an entrance fee to be paid. Quite expensive for foreigners, as one only really spends less than half an out on the top. It is quite safe and popular.

Great view but disorganized
May 2018 • Solo
We walked up the rock and we could not fidn anyone, so we just climbed it. We enjoyed the view for a little and then somebody appeared asking to pay a ticket as supposedly we should have bought the ticket in an office in town- there was no mention of this anywhere near the rock...

Wonderfull view on top
Oct 2016 • Friends
Walk was 1-2 hours to the top and back. Nice view from the top!
Rock itself had a lot of graffiti on it but the story of the speaking rock was nice to hear.
We went with a guide since we heard that muggings sometimes occur around and you are safe with a local guide. Do not know how much of it is true but our guide knew a lot about the area and history so it was a double advantage. Guides are poissible from neema crafts.

Must see!
Dec 2015 • Solo
Huge must see! Views from the top are incredible you feel like your on top of the world! Doesn't take long to get up but it is steep on the way back down - would recommend some good shoes for the hike!

realy nice place
Feb 2016 • Friends
it was a 20 to 30 minute walk from the city. You have a realy nice view over the whole town. The nicest time for the spot is the sunset. In the past it was dangerous to go there because of raids. But now there is a official guard. Each person has to give him 5000 tzc. So a private guard from town is not nessesary anymore. If you use a guard from town you have to pay for the official guard as well.

Had a wonderful time
Nov 2015 • Friends
I went with a bunch of friends to the rock and had a lovely time at the top where we hung out and took pictures of Iringa. You can see all over Iringa and it's a nice place to relax. It would have been harder to find the rock without my friend who knew the way as you snake in between houses on the way up. It's not a hard or long walk but the view is rewarding. When we went on 17.11.2015 there was a guard who we paid by buying him a soda!
