About
Everyone has a dream. Jose Paronella’s dream became a reality. On 5 Hectares beside Mena Creek Falls he built his castle, picnic area by the falls, tennis courts, bridges, a tunnel, and wrapped it up in an amazing range of 7,500 tropical plants and trees. He even harnessed the waterfall for his electricity. It opened to the public in 1935.Today, visitors to the park marvel at the achievements of one man. Admission to Paronella Park is valid for 24 months and covers all of the tours (a 45 minute guided walk that explains this extraordinary story & takes you through the highlights, the stunning Darkness Falls Tour where the castles and waterfall are flood-lit to allow for amazing photo opportunities, and the hydro tour, giving you an in-depth look at the hydro electricity system that harnesses the power of the waterfall to provide the electricity for the whole Park). Admission also includes a souvenir guide book, fish food for feeding our resident fish and turtles, a bookmark, as well as a site for one night in the adjacent van park.

Top Far North Queensland Attraction.
What an experience in NQ History. Unbelievable story is told here . The ruins are incredibly preserved. Everything about this place is mind blowing. Our guide , Amanda was fun and dedicated. The alfresco Cafe is well set out on a huge deck(near the ticket office)& is good spot to relax and reflect on your Paronella Park visit . I can definitely recommend this experience if you are in the region.

Gorgeous

Such a special place, I’m glad we made the trip down. Everything was clearly lovingly designed and made, with so many thoughtful touches. You can imagine how spectacular it would have been in the 1930s. It’s so good that the place is being preserved now, rather than being left to degrade further.

Beautiful park and history. So relaxing to walk around and take our time after the tour. The guide Amanda was so knowledgeable about the parks history and passionate about promoting and supporting its future.

Paronella Park walk
We enjoyed a walk around the grounds
The waterfall is beautiful and we saw turtles, eels, a green tree snake, fish and bats.
The buildings are in disrepair unlike anything I’ve seen anywhere else though - still rather underwhelming! Worth a visit though
We didn’t bother with the tour, much better to walk around on your own

Excellent spot to visit, unique history with ruins of prior buildings and beautiful setting alongside a waterfall.
A fantastic waterfall sets the background of this park of beautiful gardens and building relics. Feed the fish, eels and turtles. We stayed in cabins which are clean and tidy but no ensuite.

More than just a tourist destination
Aug 2021
Paronella Park is more than just a must-see tourist spot. I grew up in the neighboring town of Mourilyan. The park is a place I feel compelled to visit and stay every time I come home to Far North Queensland. I am adopted and when I found my birth-mother, I discovered she was living in the same district. We met for the first time sharing a Devonshire tea at the Paronella Falls cafe, and then then explored the park together. 26 years later, My wife has also fallen in love with the dream of Paronella Park. One morning, I ordered a Devonshire tea for old time's sake and we enjoyed a very pleasant and educational conversation with the owners, Mark and Judy. In the evening, the night tour of the park brought out the next level of magic for us to marvel. We then wandered down to the Mena Creek Hotel where I enjoyed a Mena Burger - quite possibly the best burger and chips I have ever devoured.

Magical
What can I say, this place is magical, I definitely recommend the tours. We did the day tour and it told us all about the history of the place and what each thing was.

The night tour where it lights up is just amazing.
The light show is beautiful
My 10 year old really liked the night time show.
