Over a special three day version of the Green Mountain Trail, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the company of fellow walkers from Germany, Iran and Canada - strangers before we started, now friends with a shared experience. We learnt more about Fynbos in our three days of hiking with our guide, Jeff Groenewald, than in thirty years of hiking in the region with no more than a book in hand. Jeff had the happy knack of imparting interesting facts in a manner that was both informative and entertaining. He was ably assisted by Patrick whose ever smiling encouragement and back pack of wonderous breakfasts was enough to get us up all the hills even in temperatures in the mid 30s. And I haven't mentioned the wine tasting, the delicious meals or the comfortable, friendly surroundings of our base at Wildekrans Country House! All in all a wonderful experience that was good for the soul as well as the heart and lungs.

Having been thrilled by the Blue Mountain Trail (March 2020) we were looking forward to hiking the Green Mountain Trail. It was a great experience! A unique combination of experiencing beautiful nature and warm hospitality. Many thanks to Alison (the organiser), Jeffrey and Patrick (the friendly and knowledgeable guides) and Alison's friendly team.

We very much appreciate that we were looked after so nicely: whether it was the superb tasting breakfast that magically came out of the guides' backpacks or the care that was taken and the support given by Jeffrey and Patrick when one of us struggled a bit with the heat and fitness. (On our registration form we mentioned that one of us has lactose intolerance - It is unbelievable to what extent the staff took this into account for all dishes- THANK YOU, Anni and Rose.

What would all wonderful experiences be without the encounter and exchange with other hikers. We were fortunate with our hiking companions. We enjoyed their company. Warm regards to M & S, as well as A.& S and H. :-)

LOVED this experience - the setting is just mind blowing. The walks are incredible - walking in the mountains, through orchards, vineyards…the natural beauty of the area truly takes your breath away. Each day was another surprise - another stunning hike. Perfectly manageable. And then you end the hike with wine tasting - what more could you ask for??!! And the guides are just top notch - super helpful and knowledgable on the flora and fauna of the region. Cannot recommend enough. Such a special experience!!

How blessed are we to have been able to enjoy a superb hike in the beautiful Green mountains with our fun loving friends. Alison and her friendly team made it a lifetime memory - their service was outstanding the food delicious and the wine tastings divine. Our experienced guide Jeffrey was brilliant with his knowledge of fauna & flora and his unexpected singing performance was amazing. I have done a previous slack packing hiking trip in Italy - I am SO proud to be able to say that our South African experience was amazing and of equal quality.Thank you for a wonderful trip.

What an amazing, warm, joyful way to start 2021. The team at Wildekrans offer the most wonderful hospitality - unobtrusive yet with no detail overlooked. The food was delicious, the accommodation super-comfortable, the garden serenely beautiful. And the hikes led by the kind, supportive, encouraging, highly knowledgeable guides were inspirational..... We also loved meeting the other family who made up our group... fellow travellers and new friends. Thank you for exceeding our expectations Alison and team - hope to be back SOON!

Its difficult to single out one highlight of a trip which exceeded my expectations in many respects. The hike is suberbly organised, the host warm and professional and the guide world class. The country house is situated in a beautiful garden with lovely art work. The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated. The food was hearty and delicious. A highly recommended experience.

The Green Mountain half day trail is a fabulous experience for anyone who loves walking and enjoys learning about the glorious fynbos that the Houw Hoek area is blessed with. The two guides that accompanied our group were extremely knowledgeable and we all learnt a great deal about the plants and animals that live in the area. And, to top it all, the most fabulous breakfast was provided to eat en route - including coffee!

The views, the abundant fynbos and the excellent guides made this hike very special. The hiking involved lots of ups and downs, some quite demanding, but all made easier by the helpful guides and plenty of stops to admire views, birds and flowers. Packed breakfasts, hot tea and coffee and delicious soup along the way added to the enjoyment. The days were well planned with wine tastings and lovely lunches to look forward to.
