We returned this year for the third time to this wonderful winery. We were not disappointed! The wine seems to grow even better every year, and the whole experience is an unmitigated pleasure! The walking through the vineyards and the tasting of the wine is a marvelous experience, and getting to actually speak to the winemaker, Maria, is a great treat. I’m sure we will be back again!

Bodega Sarmentero is a small, family-owned winery. The family history and obvious passion they have for wine making, makes this a very worthwhile tour. The wines are also fantastic!! We did the wine and cheese tour and thoroughly enjoyed it. Ben was a great host and it was really nice getting to know the family’s personal story with the winery.

Ran into a family from Texas, at another winery, that stated they were doing an english speaking wine and cheese tasting and tour of Bodega Sarmentero at 5pm. My husband and I decided to stop by at 4:45pm to see if we could join them. The owners, Maria and her husband, did not hesitate in allowing us to join the fun. Both the wine and cheese pairing were spectacular! I believe they mentioned they are building a small boutique hotel in the near future so some construction was going on but did not deter the tour which consisted of a walk down the street to their vineyard. We bought the 2015 Sarmentero!

We visited here on a wine tour, and enjoyed it thoroughly. Maria was a tremendous host, making us feel welcome and comfortable. She told us all about her family winery, and how the wine is made, and conveyed her passion for the wine. The wine itself was wonderful - so much so that our little group bought more than a dozen bottles. It was all done in fine English, too. You can’t go wrong by stopping here.

Do not miss this very small and fairly new family run winery owned and operated by Maria Lopez Repiso and her parents. Small though they might be, they still do all the same processes as the larger wineries, from the vine to the bottle. We were lucky to be given a tour by the lovely Maria, who is very proud of their facility and their wines. And she should be proud. We were able to watch as her parents were performing the bottling and labelling of their newest vintage. We were able to hear from Maria a different philosophy on the wine business. We were also able to sit in a very charming tasting room and taste some of her best wines, which were quite amazing. We also were able to send home 12 bottles of her best wines. This is the only wine we purchased for shipping back home. A true delight. If you want a truly personal and laid back tour and tasting, put this winery on your list. You will not be disappointed.
