What a lovely palace and even more so the estate all around it! One can just imagine what staying here must have been like. There are technically 2 palaces - facing off each other. The entry is quite ordinary but once you come inside and...More

Both Schleissheim Palace and its neighboring facility Schloss Lustheim (built for a concubine of the royal type) make for a beautiful morning stroll. The reflecting pond and fountains add to the tranquility of the palace grounds. Plenty of free parking and located near the main...More

Away from the city centre, Schloss Schleissheim is less well-known and thus not crowded at all. We got to the palace in the morning and there were very few tourists around. The New Palace is the main building, along with two other smaller palaces connected...More

Despite a raining day and winter time we visited the park which is very nice and we could imagine how beautiful it will be in spring and summer with also the working fountains. Very beautiful and strongly recommend the visit to the main castle

I was staying at the Hotel am Schlosspark for work, and decided to go explore the actual Schlosspark. Wow! There are actually three palaces, the Lustheim on one end, the Neues Schloss (pictured), and the Altes Schloss. Absolutely beautiful formal gardens link all three. A...More

The Castle and the park are great for a Sunday stroll. The Biergarten is a hit in summer time and the Food has reasonable Prices, if you compare with other Locations in Munich area. The Food and beer is ok, but not outstanding.

Do not know of a DP camp in Schleissheim but do know there were DP camps in Bamberg, Ulm and Regensberg from 1946 to 1950.
