Absolutely loved it! Our tour guide, Iris, was lovely. She had in depth knowledge of the caves including the surroundings. She even made some jokes & from the start it was a very easy & comfortable tour. Thank you!

One wishes one knows more about archeology when one pays a visit, but even to those without an intimate knowledge of the field, this cave and its very ancient beginnings presents a fascinating view of the history of humankind. The interpretation center has enough to introduce one to the varied history of the cave; for example, it might well have been the first place where fire was kindled! Those who have investigated its various layers of human habitation have, in some instances, spent a whole lifetime of research on barely more than a cubic metre of its treasures. Interesting, too, is that pollen discovered in the deepest layers reveals a whole history of food that nourished our ancestors, and the beginning of agriculture. Find a way to avoid the tedious and not very well-trained guide, and you will enjoy every minute.

The Cave is beautifully sited, and full of history. Form the San who lived there peacefully for thousands of years until the coming of the settlers the history is charted and explained. The recent finds of ash and charred bone from 1,000,000 years ago raises interesting questions about the activities of hominims etc. An amazing place for a visit

This cave is closed over weekends and the people in charge just couldn't be bothered to make an effort to assist. We sent emails and phone calls, since some of our party traveled from KZN to visit this cave, just to be disappointed.

During the last 16 years the caves has gone through many developments and changes. It is quite a nice trip to do with friends, family and kids. The tour guide on site is very knowledgable and gives a very informative tour of the caves and history. The museum is well laid out and you need to take your time to go through all the different sections to get the full benefit of the tour.
Do remember to take some water or refreshments and snacks as there is none available to buy on site. There are some braai facilities if you would like to use it, just remember to take everything you may need.
The toilet facilities is in shambles and was very dirty the last time we were there. There was no toiletpaper so do take some with and possibly a wet wipe or two.
I think the place has a lot of potential and would need a little TLC.
The site closes every now and then for archiological digs in the cave to reveal even more information on the history of the cave.
We did enjoy the outing and believe we will go again (well prepared) to enjoy the history and nature at the Wonderwerk Caves.

We were going to drive out and visit this place but were told it is closed to public for work.
Make sure you call out to the place before you go to see if you can actually go into the cave!

On our road trip we passed a sign to theWonderwerk Cave. This is a massive cave excavated by the bush people of f the San tribesmen. We traveled to it as it was only about a kilometre from the road. There is a visitor centre with interesting photos displayed. The cave itself has been excavated by archaeologists and artifacts taken to the museum. There are very good bush paintings on the walls of the cave . Only one problem was the young lad who was showing us around, he was not a very good guide and was more interested in trying to get his tip than giving us information on the cave. But still worth a visit.

Whilst visiting family in Lime Acres my husband and I decided on a day-trip to Kuruman to visit The Wonderwerk Cave. Thankfully we phoned (a number found via Google, belonging to a Dr. Morris) in advance, or else we would not have been able to view the cave as it is currently under construction. We were advised to request from Iris to show us around, even though the cave was in actual fact closed to the public. Iris walked (and talked) us through the cave and although the lighting wasn't very good it was still an enjoyable experience.

Only reason my rating is not Excellent was when I arrived everything was completely locked up and dark. The guide showed up after about 5 minutes and was very informative. Lots of history in the site with nice cave paintings at the enterance. One of the highlights of my trip.
