Regina is lucky to have such a large park so close to the city centre. Dominated by the legislative building at the west end, the park surrounds Wascana Lake with plenty of green space. A very popular activity is to walk the path that encircles the lake (COVID guidelines have made it a one-way, clockwise walk) - bring plenty of water if you're planning on doing the full walk. There are picnic tables in several areas, the ability to rent kayaks or canoes and even a lookout on Wascana Hill which was created from dirt dredged up from the lake when it was enlarged in the early 2000s. There's free parking by the legislative building or at the Royal Saskatchewan Museum.

This is a very nice park surrounding a lake. The most interesting thing about both are that they are completely man made. This was just a small stream through the prairies. The lake was dug by hand and all of the trees were planted.
We visited this park on two consecutive days. The first day was very hot and we mostly drove around it. The second day was much cooler and thus more conducive to walking. We also toured the museum and the legislature, both of which are located there.

The Wascana Lake north loop— the part of the lake closest to the imposing Legislative Building—offers a scenic walk (or run, or bike ride) that’s 4.2 km long.
The walk takes about an hour at a leisurely pace, and along the way, you're likely to see wild geese, squirrels, and hares. There are plenty of benches and several outlooks with fun facts about the lake and its surroundings.
Did you know that the city of Regina (which means "queen" in Latin) only got its name in 1882 and was previously called Pile O’ Bones...? The word "Wascana" is a distortion of the local indigenous word for bones.

The beautiful flowers beds, legislative building, lake behind and a water fountain, lots of water fowl makes this park. Also walking path, lots of shade trees, BBQ/picnic areas and places to feed the birds. Areas to play games or just sit and enjoy

We were staying at Regina overnight enroute to Alberta and checked out this park. I was really impressed with how big and pretty it was, with lots of space for activities. I wish we had time to do the trail around the lake because it looked like it would be a great walk! Lots of canoers and kayakers enjoying their time too. What a great park!

One of the most beautiful parks in Canada. Wascana Park is beautiful. It is always very well maintained and clean. A beautiful place to go for a walk and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Wascana Park is home to the Saskatchewan legislative buildings. We just had a new dome put on the building and it is beautiful. We love our park. Must see if you are on vacation.

Beautiful park in a beautiful city.
Wascana Park is the heart of Regine. It is a wonderful family friendly walk. There are LOTS of Canada Geese, and other birds. This is 'urban hiking' with lots of nature and also great views of the Legislative Building

My wife and I enjoyed a quiet and cool lunch under many of the big trees in this park. With the day becoming progressively hotter, this was the coolness that was much appreciated. We drove around this park after lunch and were surprised all the other recreational options this park offers (ie. lakeside marina). This is a must stop if visiting Regina.

A wonderful place to spend a few hours or to spend the day. No rides or corny places to visit, just a wonderful clean park where you can spend the day in peace and quietly. (Warning: while beautiful, there are huge mosquitoes to contend with.)

Wascana Park's scenic, just under 5 km loop around the legislative building lake is the best loop in Canada. I have lived in Montreal, Calgary and now Toronto and I like this walk or run path the best.

Do you provide guided tours. June of next year I will have a convention and thought a tour of the Centre would be nice for our bus load of 50.

There is a really nice island a Time wascana Lake that has BBq’s And picnic tables. It’s great for a group function. There is also a small (about15 people at a time) “ferry” that takes people to the island and also takes people for a view of the lake. I would suggest to contact Wascana Centre Authority.

Are you allowed to roller blade at the Park and which trail?
Written 25 February 2018
Yes. I see many people rollerblading on the trails and walkways around the Lake. I don't believe there are any restrictions, so you should be able to rollerblade where ever you want.

You absolutely can rollerblade. Be care full of some potholes and ruts that will eat the tiny wheels. They’re mainly to the south and east of the lake. There’s also a few gravel trails near the boat docks.
