I visited the museum with my 2 kids (6&10). When I tapped my CC it didn't work (tap wasn't working apparently). So I swiped it and the machine said "approved". The worker said, great thanks and I started filling out the covid tracing form. The worker then told me my payment didn't go through. I said yes it did, and she said I had to talk to a manager. The manager came to the desk and without hearing what I had to say, said I didn't pay. I even pulled out my CC account and showed her proof that I paid. She said she would have to now go back in her system and double check. She let us go in, but was told to check back on the way out. Both my kids were very disappointed, as they seemed to take out alot of exhibits and we were through it in 30 min.
On the way out, I stopped at the desk. The lady said no I didn't pay and called her manager again. Again I showed her proof that it went through, but she said it didn't. I was upset and told her fine I will pay again, but the whole thing was a rip-off anyway. She said I didn't have to pay again (?) But when she closed that night she will double check and will be calling me.
Two days later she called me, and left a message saying she was still waiting for payment. When I didn't call back, she called me back 2 days later and said the system was down at the moment, but if I brought a 20.00 to her (my purchase was 19.46) then we were even. I asked for her email, so I can send an invoice of my purchase, proving I did pay.
She was rude, and very unprofessional.

On behalf of our management team please accept our apologies for everything that happened. We did have a major issue going on with our internet and debit for a few days but that is no excuse for making your visit with us a bad one. I hope you and your family will be able to return again as our guests and experience the adventure we like to share with all our visitors. Please let me know and I will be there to greet you. Was here a few days ago with my husband. It was great that we could roam alone and at our own pace enjoy the planes and read the informational plaques. We particularly loved that we could get inside some of the planes. I imagine it's also a perfect place to bring your children. I'd be ecstatic if I visited a place like this in my childhood.

The souvenir shop here is also a major attraction. Usually, I'm not a fan of souvenir shops because the items are uninteresting, but not in this case. We found some awesome hoodies and caps here. I also loved the books on aviation and the history of planes.

Combined with a very affordable price, I think this is one of the best places in the north of Ontario to visit.

A real view on the history of the opening up of this region, its history and also the forest firefighting past and present, all over this area. It was amazing to find out how much was invented and/or initiated here from the Sault and/or northern Ontario. Real world leader, and becoming more and more important as our world burns. Such ingenuity everywhere... There are also elements from Science North (in Sudbury) here -- most importantly the Jane Goodall movie, Reasons for Hope. Such a wonderful museum, high quality exhibits, well explained for all ages and depths of background.

A good museum featuring a number of bush planes with interactive & historical displays. A good number of planes enable visitors to get in (easier of your shorter than 180 cms) plus a lot of interactive areas for kids.

Also featuring the insect zone with lots of creepy stick bugs, cockroaches, giant snails & spiders. Very friendly staff!

This was an interesting afternoon in an area we as Irish visitors knew little about. Forest fires in our part of the world are a rarity, so learning about the pilots and planes involved in trying to douse the flames was a worthwhile experience - there were plenty of planes - a couple of them open - and a couple of good videos. We had alloted two hours for the museum, which was perhaps a little long, unless you are a real plane buff.

This is a great little aviation museum. Not that little actually. I learned a great deal about the evolution of bush flying in Canada, the aircraft built for it and the impact it had in opening up the north. The museum's collection is an excellent cross section of the history of bushplanes. Extra points for good histories on the specific planes on display.

Unlike most museums, you can touch many of the exhibits here, and go inside a good number of the aircraft. Kids will love that, and if you like aviation you will appreciate the planes here that helped build Canada's north. They also have modern interactive experiences / movie shorts that are worth sitting through. I will re-visit this place for sure.

The main reason I chose Sault Ste Marie for my trip was to visit this centre. I pretty much had the place to myself. There is quite a bit to see and read, a lot of great information. The Wildfires film was very interesting, definitely need to watch it when there. One gentleman that was working on a plane took the time to give me an amazing amount of history and details on that particular plane. Everyone there was quite friendly and I'm glad I made it in to check it out!

I visited the Bushplane museum and spent an interesting afternoon there. They have all sorts of flight movies about bush fire fighting, the St Mary's river locks and also about the Soo itself. You can climb into old retired planes and also do a flight simulation which was really fun.
The experience was really made worthwhile by Dave Redman who was an ex-pilot who took the trouble to explain to my husband and myself about all the planes and the history of the whole place. So if you ever run into him, you will be entertained by this veteran pilot.
There is a small one dollar discount for seniors but on the whole, it was worth every cent.
