Our small group adventures and private excursions are led by local artists, photographers and architects. We depart from Halifax to all points across Nova Scotia and our speciality is in organizing day trips to the magical wilderness of Sable Island National Park Reserve. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our day-long private tour of Peggy's Cove and Halifax with Geordie during our recent cruise. Truth be told, we've never done an excursion NOT organized by our ship and I found Picture Perfect Tours through only research, not a referral. Despite my apprehension, the experience exceed my expectations.
First, Geordie did an excellent job communicating with me as we were planning our trip. He patiently answered my questions and gave us terrific suggestions. He also offered complete flexibility in designing our tour, since we were traveling with my octogenarian parents and wanted to have a more leisurely pace. I should note that our trip coincided with Hurricane Lee, so we weren't even sure we'd make it to Halifax... Geordie remained in close contact as we watched for potential changes to our itinerary.
We managed to avoid the inclement weather and cheerful, professional Geordie met us at the port right on time. He had emailed me photos in advance so I had a crystal clear understanding of our meeting point. His Mercedes Sprinter was clean and comfy for our group and he provided a nice selection of cold beverages for us.
Geordie was incredibly knowledgable about history and the Halifax area, specifically. His storytelling style was very engaging and we could sense his Canadian pride. We learned fun facts about lobsters and artists and the post office and so much more!
Peggy's Cove and the Halifax Explosion Memorial Bell Tower were among the day's highlights. The fact that Geordie is a photographer and was generous in sharing tips for capturing the best iPhone pics was a bonus!
We also had a delicious lunch at a restaurant that we understand is a local favorite, where I indulged in a lobster roll. Need I say more?
Finally, as we arrived back at the cruise terminal (with plenty of time to spare!), Geordie amazed us all with a small memento. I won't spoil the surprise here, but it was highly appropriate and much appreciated!
TIP: Get to Peggy's Cove as early as possible to enjoy the scenery minus busloads of visitors!

A perfect day! I’ve been dreaming of visiting Sable Island for years, and did try last year, but was disappointed when the trip had to be cancelled for weather. But this trip had perfect weather, perfect everything! I had stressed about the price (and it’s definitely up there for a one day trip) but I didn’t regret one penny, and I’m already dropping not-so-subtle hints of returning😁 Geordie was a friendly, knowledgeable and considerate guide, and the group of strangers weren’t strangers for long. We had the option of wandering off with a radio if so desired, but the group was so great it wasn’t necessary. And of course, Zoe Lucas was an absolute delight. I was there for the horses, and would have had a great time regardless, but all those not so little things really put the day over the top.

Hi 45lanitaj, I'm so glad your patience and persistence paid off and you made it out to Sable Island on your second attempt! It is a higher price point trip, but it is an experience you, me and our group will never forget. Thank you for the incredibly kind words and we'll have to get you there in the fall or winter next time to get a different look at the landscape and wildlife. All the best!

Our picture perfect tour with Geordie to Lunenburg and Peggy's Cove was amazing. It was the highlight of our cruise. Georgdie took good care of us during the entire tour. His recommendations were on point and he was flexible in adjusting the itinerary based on our requests. Will definitely use Picture Perfect Tours again in our next visit.

Geordie gave our group a terrific introduction to the beauty and history of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. What sets Geordie apart is his thoughtfulness and attention to details. He also was very flexible, changing our itinerary when the mood of our group changed. I would highly recommend Picture Perfect Tours to anyone. There are not enough stars in a five star rating.

Geordie the owner of Picture Perfect makes sure that your unique hard to get to special Sable Island moment is more than you could possibly expect. He communicates well before the trip - this is a special adventure that only a few hundred manage to visit each year - the weather is a big challenge and Geordie makes sure that all that can be done to assist success visiting. His photographic knowledge is professional level and is caring to assist all his guests ( typically maximum 7 per trip) get that special moment and picture whether you are a pro wildlife photographer or one that has little or no experience. Gracious host that makes sure this unique special moment is one that you will remember for the rest of your life - highly recommend you take this trip

July 27th was the realization of a lifelong dream to go to Sable Island after reading about it in National Geographic as a kid in the early 70s, and now after having been there I can say it was worth the wait and every penny spent. This was all made possible by Geordie Mott owner of Picture Perfect Tours, Geordie is a relaxed and informative guide with intimate knowledge of the island and he lead us on a day long hike along the horse trails and stretches of white sand beach explaining about the flora and fauna as we went, the weather was great, the scenery captivating, the wild horses and grey seals were abundant making for excellent photo opportunities and memories that will last a lifetime, however the desire to return has already started, the winter version looks very interesting, also if you happen to leave your phone on the helicopter after the tour Geordie can help with that too. Very Highly Recommended.

Next time brendav94, we could arrange a much more plausible and effective alibi to sneak you back on the helicopter to Sable Island than, "I'm just looking for my lost phone."
I'm so glad this long-anticipated adventure was everything you imagined and more. And thank you for being flexible to jump ahead a few weeks when we had an opening with great weather.

We toured Nova Scotia with Geordie Mott and had a wonderful time. Geordie was well-prepared each day with all the details of our itinerary ironed out. He had wonderful insights into the spots we visited. His manner is very laid back; he understood the nature of our tour group and kept us moving at an appropriate pace. He was extremely thoughtful, funny and courteous.

I've always had a dream to go to Sable island, and after meeting the island's biologist several years ago, I joined the Sable Island Institute's Arts Committee, to advocate for cultural aspects of the island. Last week, I received an unexpected and last minute invitation to go!! It was a dream come true!
I thought I'd be fearful of flying in the helicopter but it was a breeze. The pilots were wonderful and the sights of the Nova Scotian coastline below were so beautiful. Once on the island, we were met by parks staff and the wonderful Zoe Lucas, the biologist who has devoted her life to this place.
After a full morning of walking the horse trails, taking photographs, and getting to know the other people on the journey, we were able to come back to the little sun room, and eat our packed lunches and use the facilities.
Our afternoon was just as lovely, going over to the side of the island where they land the airplanes. There were many horses there as well and gentle rolling dunes.
The trip is one I'll never forget. It was truly a magical place to be!

This was a once in a lifetime trip that Picture Perfect Tours made happen. Geordie was an amazing guide and I would recommend this trip to anyone who has a love of nature, horses and unique experiences.

It was my 60th birthday gift to me to visit Sable Island and thanks to Geordie with Picture Perfect Tours it was an incredibly special and memorable day. Geordie is a gifted storyteller. He shared the story of his family who once upon a time lived on the Island. Geordie talked about how the horses have survived and thrived for so many years, the rare species of birds and where to find them, and the best places to find treasures from ship wrecks washed ashore. There was a real sense of community with our small group. We laughed and marvelled at the majestic horses and the many sights. Thanks to Geordie's knowledge of the Island I always felt safe. If you have the chance to go to Sable Island, I'd highly recommend Picture Perfect Tours for your visit. I can't wait to go again!

What is the distance from the pier where the Norwegian Gem will dock and the Picture Perfect Tours location?

Hi Kathy, we are licensed to access the Halifax Port Authority area to pick up guests from the terminal exits. The exact distance depends on the specific pier, but they're all really close.
If you're arriving on June 4th or the 18th, which are the first two of the three visits by the Norwegian Gem to Halifax in June, I've got bad news - we are already booked for tours those days and won't be available.
We are available on the June 25th visit of the Norwegian Gem though if that is your cruise date.

My name is Geordie and I am the owner Picture Perfect Tours here in Halifax, NS. Sorry for the delay in responding - I didn't notice the question right away on TripAdvisor.
Our Half-Day Tours are usually $105.00 CAD + tax per person, but with a group of 6, we can do a discount for either a private tour or reduced rates on a group tour.
We could do a Historic Halifax tour or an Eastern Shore tour on September 21st with your group if that works for your team. Does anyone have any mobility issues that you know of?

Our Half-Day Tours (Eastern Shore, Historic Halifax, Peggy's Cove) are 5+ hours in length and run all throughout the busy cruise ship season in the fall.

Everyone's answer above already covered your question. There won't be any eagles near Peggy's Cove. The draw is the 207-year-old fishing village, iconic lighthouse and rugged glacier scarred landscape.
