A cool little walking tour that takes you to different local food and drink establishments. We had Rachael and she was fantastic, very personable and friendly.
They've got different types of tours with some focusing on food and some on drinks in different neighborhoods around the city center of Halifax.
A cool way to see areas of the city and have a little nosh at different restaurants too, can't wait to try another tour.

During our recent trip to Halifax, we took the Halifax North Craft Beer and Food Tour, one of several options offered by Local Tasting Tours. We had high expectations, given all of the rave reviews on Tripadvisor – and it exceeded them! You could tell you were in for a good time as soon as you met Emily, our guide, an extremely interesting and personable lady who has crafted a really excellent tour.
I was amazed at the amount, quality, and variety of food and drink we got. We visited 9 establishments in the North End of Halifax, receiving food samples in all of them and, in addition, samples of local beers in three of them. I enjoyed every single dish (and many of them were truly incredible), though a couple of them I probably never would have tried on my own. That was one of the great things about this tour – being exposed to new foods I wouldn’t have tried otherwise. And being exposed to an interesting part of town I probably wouldn’t have normally visited, either. I was so impressed with the unique and beautiful spaces the restaurant owners here had created, and their pride in their establishments.
If we ever plan a return to Halifax, the first thing I would do is book another Local Tasting Tour.

Thank you so much for the lovely review, Joan. It was such fun to explore the North End with you and your partner and the local ladies in your group. I'm so glad you enjoyed everything. Hope you had a great time for the rest of your stay in HFX. I'll be down to try a food tour in Maine very soon!

We had a great time with our Hostess Emily. Although there were only 2 of us and our Hostess on Sept. 12. She told us of the rich history of the area and the 5 different restaurants and eateries we went too. the weather was perfect and the walking around the area was really neat as well. You tend to just drive through and not stop and have a good look as to the what's on Quinpool Road. It is well worth the stop and we have been back several times to go to the various restaurants in the area.
If you haven't had the chance to do this tour. You are missing out on something really special.
Hope she like my CD, I gave her and plays it regularly and not just being used as a Beer Coaster.. lol Emily is an avid walker and has walked all the way around the coastline of Nova Scotia. So you have to keep up with Her as she takes you on a gastronomic Tour of the area.

The first tasting tour in Halifax and it is worth every delicious morsel :) Basically it is a 90 minute walk full of foodie stops, stories and some historical background. We got to meet some chefs and the owners of some of the establishments. The tour I participated in takes us along Barrington Street in downtown Halifax. Make sure you have an empty stomach.
I recommend it! $25 per person and a fun relaxing way to spend an afternoon, meet some new people, learn a bit more about this terrific city and taste some delicious food! You book your tickets online or can call 902.818.9055 There are a few other walks in the works.

My partner and I went on a tasting tour on Quinpool and had a fantastic time! The food was lovely at every venue and I especially enjoyed hearing all the history of each place we went. What a great way to discover a city and it's best kept food secrets through the eyes of a local!

My girlfriend and I were only going to be in Halifax for the day, as we were arriving on a cruise ship. I booked our tasting tour about a month in advance and we were excited to taste what the city had to offer. The meeting location was only a few minute walk from where we docked and in a matter of a few minutes, the group had assembled and we were off. As a veteran cruiser, I've had my share of over-priced, disappointing cruise excursions, but Local Tasting Tour of Halifax was a fantastic exception. The food was great, the sights better, and the guide the best! Definitely recommended!

I attended this tour as part of a team building activity with other co-workers from my workplace and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed it. As a Halifax resident, I'm very familiar with the venues that are featured, but I appreciated hearing their success stories. The tour guide was extremely friendly and knowlegeable as well. Would definitely reccommend this to others.

Emily was our tour guide and she is a fantastic speaker and story teller. We enjoyed all of the stops, especially the Lebanese food, Five Fishermen and the candy store. Great value for money spent! We would love to try another tour.

An excellent walking tour of locally owned eateries, not to mention the amazing samples you get to try at each one! Emily (our tour guide) is fantastic, personable and shares her wealth of knowledge at each stop. It was great to see what the food scene has to offer in Halifax and Emily is more than happy to share information about other great places to visit outside the tour. Great value and well worth the time.

How much does this tour cost? How many restaurants does the tour stop at?
Written 23 July 2017
It was approx $50 each and we stopped at 7 different places: 3 restaurants, a bakery, a bar that also served food, a candy store and a store that sold products made from a local fruit (the haskap berry)

Is this the one that goes out of Prince George hotel ?
Written 25 March 2016
Thanks to all those who helped out on this question: certainly no dress code - and yes, comfortable shoes are great, but the total distance for most tours is only 1.5 km with lots of resting!

Maybe it's my lack of knowledge on this sight, but how do you make a reservation and know the prices of this tour?
Written 23 July 2015
Hi there, thanks for getting in touch! My apologies if booking information isn't clear on our site. If you link to our website thru Trip Advisor, at the top of our homepage you will find a BUY TICKETS button which will take you to online reservations for all routes. There is also the FOOD TOURS tab and CHECK OUT OUR TOURS which will take you to individual web pages for each route with more details, and a BUY TICKETS button. Or why don't you give us a call? We can explain the routes and take a reservation over the phone, if you like. Thanks again! -Emily

Which tour did you do? I am trying to choose one as a wedding shower gift for my friends who are moving to Halifax. Yours sounded amazing! Was it the downtown Halifax food tour? Thanks for your help. Sandy
Written 19 May 2015
Hi Sandy, the Downtown Halifax food tour is lots of fun and really delicious with fine dining tastings at spots like Gio, Chives and the Five Fishermen, plus lots more. Gift certificates for the Downtown Tour are also good for the Downtown SoMo tour, so recipients can use them any Sunday thru Thursday all season. Think I saw your order come thru - apologies for late response!
