Not much help - brochures generally unhelpful. We wanted to know more about the hiking routes, and, apart from some very vague directions given by the lady at the desk (when she eventually arrived) , nothing worthwhile.

Not the way to welcome tourists to your area.

If you are not familiar with the town and surrounding areas, I'll definitely stop here first. Very friendly and helpful people that could help us and answer our questions. They also supplied a very helpful pamflet.

I spent a few days in Wakkerstroom with the dogs. Received very poor service from info centre and cheese shop next door when I wanted info on their hiking/walking trails. However the locals are very friendly and helpful and Daniel from Wakkerstroom Reservations is an absolute star. Helpful, available and empathetic! The locals were keen to share info about Wakkerstroom. We had a good stay after a rocky start. If your dogs have noise phobia do not cone over New Year’s Eve as they let off massive bombs and blow their money on fireworks. It might only be for 1 day so rather come earlier or later and skip 31 Dec and 1 Jan. The sunsets are exquisite.

If you are visiting Wakkerstroom this needs to be a stop off point. Staffed by volunteers who are all local they were very happy to have tourists visit their village and we're quick to give a detailed run down of the history of the place plus pointers on where to eat and stay.
We followed their suggestion of an early history walk and over two days ticked off most food and drink options

Friendly tourist officer, told us about the highlights of the town, and some of the history. Lovely atmosphere and vibe.

We traveled Monday to Wednesday which is the worst time to go to Wakkerstroom as most places are closed. Even finding a coffee is like finding hen's teeth. Such a pity as we were looking forward to exploring the shops and little places.

Wakkerstoom has a lot to offer and I found that only on my third trip their I saw enough to say I visited the place. The locals are the best form of info, but it depends on the person you ask. I recommend a large cooler box, good attitude, nice camera, binoculars, two fishing roads, light snacks, bird book and go and explore wakkerstoom for your self. Share you findings with others and leave a copy of you travel log in the resorts guest book. help a brother.
