I recently spent the weekend at Casa Labia with my partner. While initially unsure of what to expect when told it was a hotel, restaurant and co-working space in one...I was very pleasantly surprised upon arrival. What a beautifully maintained building, harking back to an era where glamour and class where prized. The ground floor restaurant and dining room facilities look like something out of a Gatsby house party, with the co-working space upstairs functional and comfortable. The hotel room turned out to be a full 2 bed apartment with a private balcony overlooking the ocean, less than 50m away. Will definitely revisit when next in town!

We visited for a relaxed lunch on the lawn. Lovely setting. Service was a bit slow for this kind of establishment, but the waitrons were all very friendly. Our starter - which we wanted before the main course arrived - arrived after the mains - which left one of us starving.... not good.
When the food arrived it was simply delicious though. Once we had had dessert and coffees and were ready to pay, it also took quite some time for a waitron to arrive with the card machine. We were a very relaxed and easy group of three ladies, so I think it is fair to say that we gave the whole experience the benefit of the doubt.
I would suggest that more waitrons might help to alleviate the pressure that they were clearly experiencing. For the prices we paid, I think we could have expected much much better service. A pity since this is an absolutely stunning venue!

Were excited to try this restaurant and the venue truely is beautiful. But we were bitterly disappointed in our experience. We ordered at 1pm and after repeatedly asking after our meal, by 3pm the three burgers and one pizza was not done. Eventually walked out after being told our meals are being plated but the pizza wasn't in the oven yet. Had to get up repeatedly to find the waitress to order drinks or cake while we waited. Can't remember ever having such a bad experience at a restaurant.

A relatively short but excellently selected choice of fish, meat or vegetarian all available at "starter" or "main" portions . The sea bass was perfectly prepared with imaginative trimmings, followed by six imaginative dessert choices; the 3 our party tried were fantastic!
Service was personal, friendly, attentive and charming.
The gracious setting in Casa Labia's Italian loggia-style mansion was delightful and the cherry on the cake is the breath-taking view over the sweep of the Muizenberg/False Bay beach!
And finally: very good value for money..

Very disappointing meal after a wonderful opera masterclass class night. Menu was very limited, no pasta, no ossobuco. Ended up with a crunchy dry burnt beef burger and partner had a bland chicken burger. Beautiful setting and was looking so forward to a wonderful bowl of pasta that Casa Labia are famous for. I sadly won’t be going back any time soon for a meal.

My boyfriend took me to Casa Labia for breakfast and I was really looking forward to it because he had been raving about the place, but we were both disappointed about the terrible service. We both enjoyed the fresh pastries and the cheeses we had, as well as the coffee, but the waiter who "greeted us" was quite rude. He was not welcoming at all (he acted as if we had disturbed and annoyed him by being there- we had to ring the bell to get in and he clearly did not want us there) and he wasn't keen at all to serve us. When he brought the food, he simply stated that there was no fruit available (which was supposed to be included in the pastries, cheeses and nuts plate that we ordered), which he should have said right after we ordered to see if we still wanted to order that, and he didn't suggest we could have dried fruit instead, or something else. It is a pity because the venue itself is quite charming and the food is rather tasty!

Casa Labia has always been a favorite and we have always taken our guests there with pride. I decided to take my sister there for tea today as she is visiting from Canada. To say we were disappointed would be a mammoth understatement! The staff could not have been more offhand, the decor which was always charming and offset the wonderful original furnishing has vanished. In its place were these ridiculous throne like chairs that cut out the spectacular view. The floor length tablecloths get in the way and are cheap and nasty. The tea menu offers cake of the day; scones and cream and one or two other things. We asked for the cake only to be told that they hadn't baked cake today. We then decided on scones and tea, the waitron went off with our order but was soon back and with some embarrassment told us there were only two scones left. At that point I just withdrew my order. In my opinion whoever has taken over has completely ruined what was a fabulous place.

We were invited to a High Tea at this beautiful venue. The moment we entered we felt like royalty. The fixtures, paintings and ambience was just lovely. Not forgetting the most amazing view of the ocean while sitting and enjoying the most delicious High Tea goodies. Highly Recommended for any occasion. Staff is brilliant and friendly as well!

A magnificent setting, however we were underwhelmed with the risotto and the line fish, and the orange brioche did not cut it (hints of microwaving). Service is attentive, with a resident pianist.
Guess that this venue is great for functions!

I wonder at Casa Labia's relatively modest profile, considering the unqualified delight that it is. The opulence of the mansion, exquisitely restored, the manicured grounds and the startling proximity of the ocean makes for a sensory smorgasbord. Add to that Cucina Labia's excellent food and friendly staff, and you have the makings of a memorable occasion - whether afternoon tea or celebratory dinner.
