Items may be lovingly crafted, but don't be lulled into thinking you're paying anything short of US prices for the pieces here. In fact, sterling silver pieces can be had for less. Item prices not marked, which makes one wonder how the owner arrives at what he is going to charge. He asked US$30 for a simple silver chain, which in hindsight was a foolish purchase. He does have a nice assortment of offers, particular gemstone jewelry, but do yourself a favor and shop around. The area is notorious for its merchants needing a firm haggle down toward a reasonable price, so don't be afraid to balk. Maybe save your money for experiencing some of the unique natural wonders of Cozumel, such as snorkeling or a blue margarita, and buy your silver at TJ Maxx.

Antonio, the owner of "Deja vu" is an exceptional person. He is intelligent, fun and able to speak English, Spanish, & French, while being a Cozumel native. He is an amazing jeweler and will create a one of a kind piece from anything he has in the store. Plus, he has something for most everyone....in-laid stone masks, leather wallets, leather horse whips, pipes, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, stone statues and so much!

The store has items that run from the unusual to the elegant, inexpensive to moderately pricey. My boyfriend and I wanted to buy almost everything in there. In the end it was the only place we made any purchases of significance and Antonio gave me an English novel he was reading that we talked about during one of our visits!!

Antonio is not only a talented artist, but he is a lovely gentleman. He hand crafted 2 rings for me while on my dive vacation. You can tell he takes pride in his work. Taking home a piece of jewelry hand crafted in Cozumel with materials indigenous to the area makes for a memorable keepsake or gift. Forgo wasting your money on cheap T-shirts and plastic and take home a real piece of Cozumel that you will appreciate for a life time! Thanks Antonio. Dan P.

Antonio creates stunning one-of-a-kind jewellery, and offers incredible customer service. I purchased two rings, a white topaz ring, and an opal ring. Antonio sized the topaz ring and then hand-delivered it to me an hour later at the restaurant I was dining at two doors down as I was leaving at 8am the next morning!!

Who does that these days? I just wish I had found his store earlier and had more time to browse, I most certainly would have purchased more jewellery. I actually stopped in to buy a necklace!!

I wish you had a website Antonio!

My last vacation this past Sep/Oct (a cruise vacation) was stopping in Cozumel for a one day visit. I’m always on the lookout for unique or very traditional types of items that in our massed produced world are getting increasingly difficult to find. I was looking to find a pair of traditional huarache sandals, but since I have a very wide foot, its difficult for me to purchase anything off the rack. My internet search led me to Deja Vu Leather and Jewelry which is a short five minute walk just outside the cruise ship pier. The owner and proprietor, Sr. Antonio, is a first rate craftsman and artist. Through my internet search I discovered that Antonio can custom make a pair of sandals for you and it appears that many people do just that, but Antonio needs to make some measurements of your feet and a few days to actually get the sandals constructed. Being on a cruise ship visiting for just a day I didn’t have the luxury of time. I had emailed Antonio during the summer and he told me not to worry. He instructed me to take some photos of my feet with some rulers next to them to measure length and then another to measure width using a tailor’s measuring tape wrapped around the width of my foot. I emailed him the photos and he went to work. When I arrived in Cozumel the sandals were ready and they were absolutely perfect. He made two pairs for me, one is a traditional kind of everyday knockabout pair with soles made of the sidewalls of recycled tires. The other is a more dressier pair, with a little more detailed work and an amazing luster which would be perfect wear for what I would call tropical or Miami casual. Since I live in a beach town, they’re absolutely perfect for summer wear at a nice restaurant or gathering. Antonio is a very friendly man and truly goes out of his way to get the job done right. While in his shop, my wife and I also looked at his custom silver jewelry designs and she was so impressed that we also left with a beautiful matching ring, pendant, and earrings set. Deja Vu is a very relaxed atmosphere with superior quality handmade items that are definitely worth a look. Go see Sr. Antonio at Deja Vu. In comparison to other Cozumel merchants, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

I visit Deja Vu each year when I return to Cozumel. The owner, Antonio, is an outstanding craftsman and artist. Visit this family run business and see for yourself - the jewelry and leather designs are beautifully and carefully made by Antonio himself. He makes wonderful suggestions and is never pushy or rushed. Fair pricing and generous discounts. And, he speaks several languages to assist his customers. Highly recommend a visit to see his designs, and consider buying a gift for yourself or others!

What a fantastic business Antonio has created! I was hoping to find a pair of brown leather strappy sandals in Cozumel while on vacation. I looked at many shops but couldn't find what I had hoped for. As we passed shops on the way to the resort in a taxi, one looked promising; Deja Vu. We returned and Antonio went from his one shop, to the other, found a pair he could modify to the image in my head and then let me pick out the leather! So Fun! And then... He had them delivered to our resort on top of everything else. Thanks Antonio! I love my custom sandals and you made our trip even more special!!

We've been customers at Deja Vu for years. This started when my previous huarache guy retired and I needed new shoes. My wife found that I could get some made there. I did, and then almost immediately had to return for more. They're nearly all I wear and patients and even strangers ask me about them often. He does good repairs, but the problem when I take shoes in to get fixed is that I order new ones, too. Fine, I might have a small problem with high-quality huaraches, but I can quit anytime I want, probably.

Since then, we've bought hammocks (not cheap souvenir ones but superb quality and worth every peso), other leather goods, and jewelry.

They make great, imaginative jewelry such as my wife's flip-flop earrings with opal soles (and little silver plug details for the straps on the bottom), her silver huarache pendant that has a tire brand on the sole, or the heavy Byzantine silver necklace with rope details I got for myself last week. I've seen imitations of some of his things at other shops, but not their equals. He designed a pendant for us on-the-spot and had it ready to pick up 3 days later.

Prices are realistic and on par with the small number of other good silver shops on the island (but good luck finding quality huaraches anywhere). The items here are not inherently inexpensive, so this isn't a cheap souvenir shop. They do have things with a broad range of prices and this would be a great place to get gifts for people you care about. (If you get gifts for everyone in your office here, you're a much nicer and better-funded person than I am.) Most things are hand-made by the owner. Value is high for the price.

I am perfectly comfortable paying ahead here for custom shoes or jewelry to be picked up later. Multiple experiences have proven this to be a reliable shop run by a dependable businessman who values repeat customers and clearly wants buyers to love their purchases.

English is great, pressure is low, and customer service is high. It's easy to find and there's plentiful parking nearby.

Brought my purse in to get the strap repaired, came back two days later with a new piece for the strap and the color was perfect. Service is terrific here, I see Antonio when I am riding my bike or walking down Melgar and he always says hi or waves, super nice person!!
