About
This pedestrian-only boardwalk spans 12 blocks and is peppered with oceanfront eateries, tequila bars, and vendors selling street food—sip on a margarita as you take in the stunning ocean views. Also, check out the vendors selling regional handicrafts and traditional sweets. Travelers come from all over for the art exhibitions and buzzing nightlife. During your stroll along the ocean, you'll come across impressive bronze sculptures and street performers like the acrobatic spectacle of Voladores de Papantla. Hit the boardwalk early for a spectacular sunrise and snap a photo with the vibrant block-lettered sign of Puerto Vallarta as a holiday keepsake. – Tripadvisor

    Must visit
Lively lovely place. Lively walk with so many statues and history. I went several times and loved each time more. I’d suggest that you take app or print the list of stairs and walk slowly from Rosa hotel to the last statue. Simply beautiful experience. Along the water walking with watching statues and learning about them … what a pleasure.

Worth checking out while you're in PV
We enjoyed our time at the boardwalk, though there are some vendors that see us Americans a mile away and start slapping jewelry on our wrists and asking for $100! The vendors on the street are willing to come down in price if you are interested in haggling a little. We loved stopping by all of the different artwork and statues. The view is amazing along the whole waterfront.

Morning and Evening Walks on the Malecon
We enjoyed walking the Malecon, looking at the views, art, and shopping. It was hot or raining while visiting in July (to be expected) so it we preferred to go in the morning and evening. It's worth a couple of hours to check it out!

Buy the tuba on the Malecon!
Back in October 29, 2019, I left a review of the Malecon entitled "Buy the agua fresca!" Well, I'm here to fix that mistake. It wasn't agua fresca. I now realize we bought a drink called tuba. We came across a lovely older man all in white (who we were very excited to find, since it was so hot), and he was a tubero - a tuba vendor. Don't be put off by the huge jug of white beverage being served out of a pretty rustic cooler right on the sidewalk. It's the best. Don't get me wrong, agua fresca is wonderful, but find the guys with the white drink (with nuts and sometimes apple chunks in it, and other yummy unidentifiable bits) and go enjoy it by the water's edge. It's the best possible way to cool off on the Malecon ever invented (aside from jumping off the pier).

Hilton Vallarta Riviera All-Inclusive Resort, Puerto Vallarta
Stayed here in July of 2023. Had a great time the Hotel was very accommodating to whatever we needed. The staff was polite and helpful and happy to assist in anything we needed. The only con I would say is that the hotel is not near anything. You would have to taxi or Uber to get downtown or anywhere. We like to walk around the area but there was nothing next to the hotel. Also we used Uber because the taxi would take advantage of You unless you used pasos. Uber would let you use a CC. The hotel drinks were fine, food was great.

    Amazing and Beautiful!
The views were amazing! The sculptures throughout the boardwalk were beautiful and informative. We took so many pictures of the signs and the sculptures as well as the breathtaking views of the ocean! The shops were my favorite! So many different things to buy and look at. We ate lunch at Otto's and it did not disappoint! Highly recommend planning an afternoon or the whole day there!

    Great walk!
Enjoyable walking experience. The street market sellers are all over but are friendly and will leave you alone if you just say no. We watched the pole musicians who hang upside down and play music until their ropes touch the ground. Great time.

    Lovely wander
Lovely wide walkway. Lots of different sculptures to admire as well as the sea views. Various shops, cafes and restaurants too. At this time of year there was a huge display of temporary Day of the Dead sculptures, which possibly detracted from the normal feel of the area but was certainly interesting to see.

    Wonderful stroll down the ocean
we walked along the Malecon for about 2 hours. We stopped at all the sculptures, street artists, stone installations, beautiful views of the oceans, etc. We also went into all the various shops selling souvenirs and touristy stuff. Got a beer from one of the stores and strolled all the way to the pier and back to the main block. People watching, ocean waves, awesome pictures. Total touristy fun

We love it on the Malecon!
Everyone has their routines, ours is trips to the malecon! Regardless were we stay in PV, we make several trips in. Shopping, supper or just drinks and people watching, it has it all! We like to start at the far north end by the sheraton and make our was south. Make sure if you have time, make a day trip and a night trip! The night trip is my favorite because everything is lit up so nicely!

Must do when in PV. Lots of stores with very friendly non-pushy staff. Very clean. Lots of entertainment. The flea markets around there are definitely worth looking around.

For first-time visitors to Puerto Vallarta, this attraction is an absolute must-see. The serene stroll along the beach, coupled with the awe-inspiring sunset vistas, is simply breathtaking. Moreover, the abundance of beachfront restaurants offering diverse entertainment options adds an extra layer of allure to this enchanting locale.

Safe place for a walk with lots of photo ops..shops, restaurants, bars. Great people watching. So many statues to take photos with and only a block or two to the church, which is beautiful. Great experience overall.

Must do. Beautiful metal sculptures and sand ones as well. Great vistas of Puerto Vallarta and lots of places to visit and eat off the strip. Really enjoyed just walking around and exploring. the beaches are further down but this is by the old section of town and quite scenic.

If you’re looking for a lively stroll packed with a variety of experience options the Malecon is the place to go.

We took a taxi from our accommodations to the malecon, where we were dropped off at the end so that we could leisurely wander back.

There is so much to see here, including shows in the amphitheater, art displays, street vendors, and so much more. The Paplanta Bird Men show is a must see. Such a beautiful display of an indigenous tradition, where 4 men bravely climb to the top of a pole secure themselves with nothing more than a rope, and cascade themselves suspended by their ankles and waste, while playing the flute. It is a breathtaking experience that deepens your appreciation for traditional customs.

Whether you’re seeking the night life excitement, or a place to sightsee this in the place to go!

If you are in Puerto Vallarta, the Malecon is a must stop. You can walk and shop at a multitude of shops. They have high end shops as well as some lower end shops, restaurants, bars, flea markets. There is something for everyone. We really enjoyed the people of Puerto Vallarta, they were very nice and kind. We loved our stay there.

A definite must day trip. So much to see, lots of shopping, the beaches were great and the oceanside restaurants a must. Some great happy hour deals to be had but watch out for some strong margaritas, lol. Get out your "bargaining tool" as there are some good deals to be had with the beach vendors.
