The transportation service was impeccable. Driver picked us up from the port in a private car, took us to destination quickly and safely. Gave us some history and a scenic tour of the city.

It’s not a huge area to walk around in but there are cobble stones and hills along with bars, restaurants, shops and art on the walls. It’s a fun way to spend a little time while in old town. There is something interesting to see on each street!

Stayed right in the heart of old Vallarta. Wined and dined and hung out . Enjoyed the locals. Loved Melicone , the flea market and could walk a few blocks to the beach. Of course my store is XoXo. I have been there before and loved it. Now I will admit July wasn’t the time of year to go. It was miserably hot. Went before in December and September and that was better. Stayed directly in front on Margarita Grill at The Pacifica.

Commonly referred to as “Old Town”, this area is the heart of PV. It has some of the better restaurants in PV and there is lots to do here. If you’re not staying in the area, best to come down during the late morning on one day, then again in the evening on another day to really get a flavor of Old Town. You’ll know when you’re in Old Town, as it is on the south side of the Rio Cuale which divides the town.

Well, this historic district can’t really be named a gem. It’s simple and small, comparing to other cities in Mexico. It’s small, few attractions, lots of small restaurants and bars. Nevertheless, if you are in the area in transit for your resort destination, take advantage and have a drink at a bar by the shore.

Some of the nicer shops on the side streets and it is less crowded than the Malecon but there are also some nice shops on the Malecon.

This is a lovely part of PV to hang out. There is a town renovation project going on that is including street art. This is a wonderful idea. It allows you to walk up and down the streets looking for all the different murals discovering small shops and restaurants you would not have seen otherwise. My husband and I walked up and down these streets all day and never felt safer. Wear proper shoes, the pavement is cobblestone and the hills are mighty. Don't forget your camera. There is a photo op around every corner.

We've stayed in the new hotel district. It just doesn't have a local feel. Town has it all: beauty, history, in trusice vendors. Just remember: "No Gracias".
