Fantastic Tour Option
Sep 2020
Tomas was easily one of the best tour guides I've ever had. Incredibly knowledgeable, and super friendly he did everything to make the tour perfect. And the work being done at La Escobilla is so important, it's a great opportunity to support a wonderful cause. And of course the baby turtles are absolutely adorable!! I couldn't recommend it more!

Llano Grande Falls: Amazing Day with Tomas!
Feb 2020
My friend and I booked Tomas for a tour up to Llano Grande falls. He picked us up at our hotel at 8:30 and then we travelled the 2 hours up to the falls through little villages along the climb up the mountains. Tomas was very knowledgeable about the area as he is from this area. He pointed out different species of trees and plants along the way, and even took a picture of a tree so he could find out later what it was. He's always striving to learn new things and increase his knowledge. Although the trip was long and bumpy, Tomas drove very carefully and slowly which was much appreciated.(newer very clean air conditioned car) Contrary to past things I have heard about this trip to the falls, there is no " awful drop off" from the road, at least I didn't see any. The road has been improved over the years, and more and more is being paved, especially through the villages. We stopped a couple times along the way, once to pick up a 'treat' from a local store, which turned out to be tostadas that are flavoured with coconut and chocolate I believe. When we stopped to have coffee, we dipped these into our coffee. The restaurant we stopped at for coffee (which was to be our lunch stop as well) sat beside a beautiful stream that flowed past as we sipped at our delicious coffees.
When we arrived at the falls, Tomas was sure to mention that we should take the available walking sticks to help with our walks down to the falls. It was an absolutely beautiful peaceful magical walk down the path beside the river to the falls. Tomas was always watchful that we were managing the somewhat uneven pathway (lots of tree roots etc that could trip you up if not watching) and helping where needed. Tomas was sure to point out the various butterflies along the way, each specific area had different species. One in particular was the glass-winged butterfly- had clear wings outlined in black. He managed to get a picture of one (which he was happy to share with us). Once at the falls, we were free to do what we wanted for as long as we wanted. He was always nearby if we needed help or had questions. At the falls you can swim behind the falls, it takes a minute to get past the rushing falling water, but it was not a problem for me (and I'm not the best swimmer by far). It was really fun to get behind the falls, Tomas was already there and took pics (which he shared of course!). The area where the falls are is shallow for the most part, and you can sit in little 'pools' like having a whirlpool. There are a couple young ladies at the falls applying clay masks if you wanted (for free), which is the red clay from the local mountain. It dries, then you rub it off, then rinse. My friend and I both were surprised at how soft our skin was afterwards, and ended up buying some when we met the young lady at lunch again. We stayed approx. an hour and a half at the falls, then went to lunch (you can stay as long as you like, Tomas was very flexible with the day). Lunch was excellent and included chicken mole, which was the first time I'd tried mole; such a combination of wonderful flavours. We had time to visit 2 little shops in the area also which had local herbs and medicines, local soaps, nuts, chocolate, mezcal etc. It was so nice to be up in the mountains, at these lovely little local shops learning about everything they had to offer and how it was made. I would highly recommend Tomas for any tour as he is very knowledgeable , patient, considerate and flexible. Excellent English, he even had brought along cold water and beer in a cooler for us, made sure to check if we needed bathroom breaks every so often. Make sure you only bring one bag along with you to the falls, and water shoes if you have. To walk the path to the falls you should have something a little better than flip flops. There are quite a few steeper steps down to the falls (and back up again), so people with difficulty walking and stairs might not be able to do this tour. We were back at our hotel by 5:30.

An incredible day in the mountains
Feb 2020
Used Tomas for a day trip to the mountains. Proved to be an unforgetable and amazing day. Exceeded expectations in every way. Got to spend some time in Santa Maria de Huatulco, where no one bothers you. Just a terrific old town, which is over 400 years old. Then to a family run coffee plantation for a tour, tasting and an excellent authentic lunch. Then to the mountaintop town of Pluma Hidalgo, which looks like something out of a movie. Visited "the orchid lady", who has an amazing amount of flowers and plants growing there. Mezcal tasting stop on the way back. The trip up and back from the 4000 foot plus change in elevation, is something we will remember for many years. The natural beauty takes your breath away. Had a like new, comfortable van with great A/C and clean windows for pics. Couldn't ask for a nicer or more passionate and knowledgeable guide. A big plus with Tomas is his flexibility in tailoring the day to individual interests. We liked him so much, we are booking two more days with him.

Amazing Bays & Snorkeling Tour
Jan 2020
Tomas greeted us at the cruise ship port and gave us tour and history of the port area. We were fitted with snorkel gear and headed down to a private boat for a tour of local bays. Our snorkel stops were awesome; uncrowded, lots of different fish and marine life and a cave. Tomas had an underwater camera and captured great photos and sent them to us. The boat captain put out fishing lines and my husband brought in a very nice fish; which we could have had prepared for lunch at a local beach.
Tomas is most knowledgable, accommodating and personable. I look forward to another tour with Tomas.

A must-do for a trip to Oaxaca
Jan 2020
Wonderful guides fluent in English. We were impressed with the depth of knowledge each of our guides had on the history, religion, politics, art forms, economy and geography. We came with a list of must-see places over five days. Both Thomas and Claudio were personable and were definitely the best part of our trip to Oaxaca.

Your best guide/new friend!
Tomas didn’t take us to see the crocodiles and turtles because have seen that before. We went in the same direction (in his nice, air conditioned van) to the locals Monday Market and city tour in Pochutla. We then visited Puerto Angel and the stunning beaches of Zipolite (yummy lunch under a palapa on the beach with our toes in the sand), Mazunte and San Augustinillo. He is totally flexible and will do whatever YOU want to do. All along the way you will learn all about the local history, traditions, culture and flora and fauna. And leave with a wonderful new friend!

You don’t want to miss this
Jan 2020 • Family
We hired Thomas for a private tour of the Monté Alban ruins in Oaxaca. Not only was he incredibly knowledgeable, but he was engaging, kind and so hospitable. Tomas shared not only general knowledge but his own personal history and ancestry. This tour was spectacular. Just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, Tomas extended our tour to visit a Master Weaver from his home town. We watched and learned as this master weaver showed us how he cleans the wool, prepares it for tapestry and how completely based on elements of the environment he creates colours to dye the wool!!! Completely and utterly fascinating. Tomas is fantastic and I highly recommend booking a tour with him. You don’t wanna miss this!!!

Private transfer Huatulco Airport to Puerto Escondido - Dec.1/19
Dec 2019
Highly recommend Tomas as a driver from Huatulco Airport to Puerto Escondido. Our flight arrived two hours late as well as one piece of luggage did not arrive. Tomas was patient waiting for us to arrive as well as waiting the additional time it took to sort out paperwork for missing luggage. Tomas was a safe driver, answering our many questions on the drive to PE. His English is exceptional and he was keen to add new English words to his vocabulary as well as teach us new Spanish words. Do not hesitate to hire Tomas as a transfer driver or your guide for a tour. You will not be disappointed. Thank you Tomas.
