Bays of Huatulco Boat Tour

The best way to experience the beauty of Huatulco is touring through its bays on board of a boat. It’s worth visiting the bays of Santa Cruz, Órgano, Maguey, Cacaluta, Chachacual and La India.

This was my first time in Huatulco, Mexico. I have heard that the Bay Area is one of the most beautiful ones, and indeed they were right! We stayed in a hotel by the Santa Cruz Bay which was only a few steps from the beach. Very quiet and super clean! There was only one restaurant but with a nice menu. All in all, Santa Cruz is a place to go back over and over again!

One of the best beaches in Huatulco. Very close to city, perfect clear water. One disappointment: it's full of crowds of local people and tourists.

The restaurant scouts are aggressive here (to put it mildly). They will literally jump out at your car and try to stop you in the middle of the road. We thought something was terribly wrong with our first encounter. We quickly got wise to these patron piranhas (as we called them) and got used to saying no... A LOT! We parked elsewhere and actually tried walking down the street -- it was just outrageous to the point of comical just how many times we were asked to sit and eat, do a tour, braid our hair 15..20...probably more. Worse still, we were in the end unsuccessful in actually getting to the water as the restaurants have completely monopolized the shoreline (you have to walk through a restaurant to get to the water). Now, I understand this is the culture here and the workers need to be paid - but unfortunately it just feels that this beach has been sold to to the food industry and you will need to pay to experience it. Other bays nearby are just as beautiful and you can actually get to the water. On the upside, if you need a sit down meal, you know where to go where you will be eagerly patronized.

We were staying in town in Crucecita so this was our nearest beach, 15 min walk, or 7 pesos on a 5 min bus ride. Lovely beach, we’re you can spend the day, under shade for the price of a couple drinks. Check the day of visit as cruise ships come in and it gets very busy. The stores away from the beach are interesting, there is a market by the cruise terminal. Saturday is a fresh food market and usually good street entertainment.

Comfortable beach with good food. Enjoyed watching the cruise ship dock across the bay. Easy walk from hotels.
