See my review for the Lighthouse as I meant it for the Oratory which I was also led to believe was a lighthouse at one time.

This experience was definetly a futuristic one, the remains of the oratory are mainly the main pillar of the castle, but during the weather conditions that I trecked up the mountain to explore it was really windy and very foggy, so I joined a team...More

We visited the Isle of Wight at the beginning of November, the main disadvantage of visiting at this time of year is that most of the main 'attractions' have closed for the season, the overwhelming advantage (after fewer crowds) is that we had to look...More

If you visit st Catherine’s lighthouse they will tell you the history of this more ancient lighthouse. Not the Isle of Wight’s space programme!

There's good free parking, and the walk is energetic but not too taxing. Watch out for the cows - they're friendly. The Oratory itself is spectacularly located on the most scenic part of the island - you have sea views on most sides - and...More

We loved it here. Free car park then a steepish walk up hill. Well worth the climb. The views are great. there was such a lovely relaxing feeling up there. Very mystical. The oratory is so simple yet so stunning. And an interesting history. We...More

Whenever we visit the island, I always try and get to St. Catherine's Oratory (‘The Pepper Pot’), if possible, it is one of my most favourite places in the world. The best way to get here is via a small (free), car park nearby on...More
