A light to warn shipping was first established on the Southerly tip of the Isle of Wight in 1323. Today the distinctive octagonal tower of St.Catherine's Lighthouse provides a waymark for vessels navigating in the English Channel and a guide to vessels approaching the Solent. Each tour is approximately 40 minutes. Tours of St Catherine's Lighthouse are operated by Andrew Booth, under licence from The Corporation of Trinity House.

Thoroughly enjoyed our little walk and talk tour in this lighthouse, very interesting history. Barrie the tour guy was a lovely man who really knew his stuff and was very easy to talk to.

Although the weather on our day of visit was cold and foggy we enjoyed the extensive tour of this special lighthouse. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable, telling us not only about the lighthouse itself but also of the local maritime history and how the lighthouses...More

You park in the road up the top in Niton and take a 10 minute walk downhill (up on the way back!) to the lighthouse. It cost £5pp (£4 for Senior Citizens) for a tour and it is worth every penny. The tours are run...More

My biggest tip don’t eat at the Buddle inn before you visit, you will be too full to go. We made this mistake yesterday but returned today and it was well worth the repeat trip, It’s a 10 min walk there with no parking or...More

I don’t know about you, but a small bright white lighthouse located on a cliff edge always sets my little heart a flutter. It’s a combination of setting, architecture and mechanical bits and bobs to wonder at. The sit3 itself is only open in the...More

Spent a good hour here with 2 young children. Tour guide was lovely and incredibly patient with our very inquisitive 6 year old and his incessant questions! Really informative tour. Worth a visit.

There are no records that list the personnel serving at each station, but you might want to try researching the Trinity House records held at the London Metropolitan Archives for mentions of specific personnel
