What a great house, so much history, no tours but very informed friendly room guides. You must make look up at the ceilings, they are amazing. Great little cafe which is worth a visit. Wouldn't particular go just for the grounds.

Thank you for your lovely comments and we are glad you enjoyed your visit to Thirlestane Castle. Our ceilings date from the 17th century and are extremely intricate. We have very informal grounds with paths along the River Leader and through our woodland.

Great visit to the castle. We went to visit this with a LARGE group of insurance agents. The grounds were fantastic and what we could see of the house was quite interesting.
