Thank you for your very kind words about the castle. The 17th-century Dunsterfield ceilings normally do take people by surprise as they are so ornate. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to welcome you back again in the future.

What a great house, so much history, no tours but very informed friendly room guides. You must make look up at the ceilings, they are amazing. Great little cafe which is worth a visit. Wouldn't particular go just for the grounds.

Thank you for your lovely comments and we are glad you enjoyed your visit to Thirlestane Castle. Our ceilings date from the 17th century and are extremely intricate. We have very informal grounds with paths along the River Leader and through our woodland.
