Iguana cay is a crazy little spot full of aggressive iguanas they don’t like to go in the water so if you are afraid or nervous just stand on the edge of the water. At first you don’t see any and then 10-20 will come racing out onto the beach. They are a society with big old ones having priority and the little ones trying to get scraps. They will eat almost anything including your fingers if you get too close. It’s a fun stop and picture location.

WOW! I have never seen so many iguanas in one place! And they were all so big. Very friendly too....not the least bit intimidated by people. Definitely worth visiting!

We stopped at Great Iguana as part of our tour to see the native red bearded iguanas and to feed them lettuce provided by our guides. There were lots of them, all sizes. Some seemed very aggressive and people on our tours were getting right in their face, but I wasn't feeling safe doing that.
No need to stay all that long (I think our stop was around 15 minutes) and some of our other tour guests swam in the nice water instead of playing with the iguanas.
