- Julie B17 contributionsAnse Chastenet to Anse Mamin for peace, privacy & beautyI loved this beach! We were not guests as the hotel, but we came to this beach twice. We walked from Anse Chastanet to Anse Mamin, which took under 10 minutes. Anse Mamin is so quiet. The beach & water are absolutely beautiful. This was one of my fav beaches ever. The hotel security were kind & welcoming each day we arrived. We also patroned the restaurants at both ends of the beach. Both were delicious. We also bought beer and asked for an ice bucket which was really nice to have in our quiet spot. We opted NOT to visit Sugar beach after enjoying this beach so much. We did not rent beach chairs, but we could have. Highly recommend enjoying this beach.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 28 February 2024
- Yaron S4 contributionsA Paradise FoundDuring my stay, I also ventured to Anse Chastanet Beach, which is just a short 10-minute drive away. While the road may be a bit rough, the journey is well worth it once you arrive at this pristine slice of paradise. It's important to note that there is a luxury resort with the same name as the beach, but don't be fooled – the beach is public. Simply park at the entrance and inform the guard that you're heading to the beach.Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 20 March 2024
- Dylan D3 contributionsAmazing snorkeling in a beautiful setting! We day tripped here from our Air BnB two times on our trip to St. Lucia, mostly for the snorkeling. The reef is roped off in one area to keep the boats out which is nice. The water here has nice clarity and the reefs were very impressive with a wide variety of fish on display. Even though this is a resort, the beach is public use and the staff were accomodating of non guests. We also ventured further north up the beach to snorkel near the pier and spotted sea turtles which was a highlight! The beach to the north of the main area offers a lot more sand and some more surf for the kids to play in as well as a burger bar. Overall, a must visit on your trip to St Lucia if you plan to snorkel.Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 27 March 2024

It's a bit of a hair raising drive up the mountain to get down the these beaches but it is definitely worth the effort and jouncing. Parking is free below Jade Mountain Resort. Signage is clear as to how to get to the beach at Anse Chastenat but staff will help you get on the right path to Anse Mamin. Very clear stairs and wide road to walk to Anse Mamin. There you can rent lounge chairs and a palapa for the day, $48.00 is not a bad deal for the views and beach for a whole day. It was not crowded and also has a bar and restaurant where you can order lunch. The mahi-mahi grilled burger might be the best I've ever eaten. Grab some beers, relax, swim, watch the fisherman and boats go by and you have a perfect day. Lunch is a bit pricey, but you're in paradise, right?! Definitely worth the visit. Bring your own towels and personal things, non- resort guests can use all the facilities but are not suppied beach towels. Enjoy!!

This was our 2nd visit to this resort. It is situated on a steep hillside, lush with Palm trees and tropical flowers. Our first visit we stayed up the mountain, the 2nd time on the beach. There are stairs either up or down, or down and then up! Spoiler: there is a shuttle service which is usually quite prompt when you've had enough of the stairs. For those who enjoy walking, there's a nice path leading away from the main beach which will take you back in the jungle.
The St. Lucian people are genuinely friendly. Remember, tourism is their primary source of income and the pandemic shut the island down for some time in 2020.
Recovery has been slow for them.
Our beach room had no view whereas the room up the hillside was totally open (no AC there but AC in enclosed beach room). Wifi worked well. The enclosed beach room had an open porch with coffee set-up and small refrigerator, stocked daily with large bottles of water (tap water is fine). Closet space adequate and removable hangars from the rod. Safe was in our closet.
There is a breakfast restaurant where you may also have dinner. Nestled in the trees just a few steps down is the small and romantic Treehouse restaurant, available for a la carte dining. Seating was open when we were there; it is a small space so either be there early or go later. Waitress service was timely and food nicely prepared. We also enjoyed the Indian restaurant, Aspara, on the beach. Sit furthest from the bar you can as the entertainment is over amplified. We ate lunch on the beach with waiters coming to us and bringing our order; that worked quite well, although the menu never changes and that gets a bit tiresome after a week.
Pandemic rules: masks always, even outdoors. Your temperature will be taken before entering a restaurant (all are open air); there is liberal use of hand sanitizer, so take along a quality hand cream to counter the alcohol in the sanitizer from roughing up your hands. We felt totally safe and enjoyed our stay!

During our cruise stop in St. Lucia we visited the Soufriere area, which was beautiful. We went to the mud baths and the Toraille Waterfall, which were ok, nothing spectacular, but this beach was really something. The views were spectacular and the water was crystal clear. Volcanic sand mixed with beige sand and large stones in the water gave it a crystal clear lake look. We were there just before sunset and it was a nice quiet time to be there.
This was our favorite part of Soufriere.

The beach is inside of a resort. It's free. You can park your car in the free parking lot outside of the resort and walk to the beach. There are restaurant, gift shop, snorkeling and diving shops available to you from the resort. There are bathroom you can use. But no shower or changing facility for the public. The beach is peaceful, with fine black sand. The sunset there was absolutely gorgeous!!! We took too much pictures, selfies there. It was hard to leave that beach. We think it's the most beautiful beach in St. Lucia!

Great stop to snorkle. You don't need to stay at the resort there or have a tour guide. Parking is free. Bring your own snorkel gear if you can (this is our plan for future trips); but you can rent snorkel gear if they have enough available from snorkel shop right on beach. Rental was $50 US cash deposit and $17 US for 1 hr of snorkeling per person. Lockers to secure your keys, passports, etc are $7. Short, easy walk from parking lot to beach. Easy snorkeling place with reefs and tons of marine life. Could easily spend hours snorkeling with all the marine life here. Saw tons of different types of fish, eels, squid families, etc.

The beach itself is beautiful, and the snorkelling is amazing, but the road to get there is absolutely awful! We ended up having to be towed by some local guys who stopped to help us - for context, my husband is a really competent, experienced driver, but our hire car was not 4x4 and we ended up getting out of the car so he could attempt the steep hill with some speed…still didn’t manage to get to the top even with when a local guy who drives that road regularly had a go! Considering how much Jade Mountain costs to stay at, I’m surprised they haven’t bothered to reinvest anything into the infrastructure to get there (I think most guests arrive by chopper or boat!) - I’d still recommend visiting the beach but would 100% recommend going in a 4x4 or with a local driver/taxi to avoid getting in the pickle we got in!

Beautiful resort, great staff and lots to do. We were there for 9 days.It was an outstanding vacation after our months of voluntary covid restrictions. Cab drivers and Anse Chastenet staff were very diligent about observing the required covid restrictions and making us feel safe. Dining was all in open outdoor restaurant space. Food options were varied and very good Diving was varied and interesting. Natasha at the dive center made all our diving trips effortless. DIve masters were great. Carmen was incredibly informed about marine life. She showed my wife her first seahorse. We also enjoyed the sailing, jungle biking and the nightly tree frog serenades. Nice secluded beaches and beutiful view from our room. Charming experience. We will return

We were underwhelmed by this beach. Snorkeling gets 2 stars it, would only have had one star if there had bee absolutely no fish. but if you've ever been anywhere where the snorkeling is been ok or good you'll be very disappointed with this beach. Don't bother with the overpriced boat taxi from Sofia as you can walk it from the far end of town in half an hour for free. Not much room on the beach for non hotel guests. Snorkeling is from the little pier to the left of the beach. Bring your own gear to avoid paying $11 US to rent it from the hotel. Overall, nice enough as long as you're not paying the exorbitant prices.

Not an expert on snorkeling in St Lucia but I think this is one of the best areas on the island to snorkel. If you are not a guest of Anse Chastanet or Jade Mountain, you can still snorkel here as the snorkel area is a marine sanctuary.
Most people staying at other resorts in the area get here by going on a snorkel tour. The snorkel area is just around the next bend of the Soufriere Bay. The boats can easily pull up to the snorkel area and let people off. The best area is roped off and away from the volcanic beach.
Tons of reef fish in a large roped off area. A nice touch is there is a ladder going into the roped off area, which makes it easier to get in or out.

This was my favorite reef for snorkeling. Plenty of different fish and corals.
It is situated at 5 star hotels though the road in may leave you in doubt. It is worth the trip and free. The best way to get here maybe by boat but we took a taxi for a little adventure.
The reef is teaming with fish and at the ends drops off into deep water this provides the chance to see some bigger fish as well.
This is as close to real diving with just a snorkel. Highly recommended!

If you are visiting and want to snorkel, are there lockers for people who are not staying at the resort?

Can you take a water taxi from cruise dock to Jaloise Beach or Anse Chastanet Beach? How much does it cost? How long does it take to reach beaches?
Written 19 January 2020
We took a catamaran over there. We did see other boats there, but nothing that explicitly stated water taxi. You could probably take a regular taxi there. The boat ride was about two hours.

Walking down, about 10-15 minutes. I don't advise walking back up though. Use their shuttle service.

How far is this Beach from the cruise port? And is it a nice area?
Written 26 June 2017
It is about an hour and a half drive - not very far but slow because it is mountainous. The beach is at a very fancy resort and anyone can swim there and enjoy the fabulous accessible coral. You can take a boat there from Soufriere - lots of water taxis available at the dock - only about a 10 minute boat ride. This is a good option because the road into the resort is not in great shape.

We will be staying at Windjammer landing and have yet to find a snorkeling excursion that visits Anse Chastanet. Does anyone have any recommendations? Preferably one that would pick us up at Windjammer.
Thanks!

We'll be in St. Lucia on Thursday. We are arriving on a cruise. Do you know if it's easy to get here from the cruise terminal by taxi? Also, about how much is it? Can you find something reasonably priced to eat? Thanks! Rich
